Rashid Khan reveals the secret behind his stupendous knock versus KKR

The Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) went into yesterday’s match against the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on the back of four consecutive defeats. They made as many as three changes to their playing eleven. The Orange Army found themselves in precarious positions, both during batting and bowling. However, a certain player by the name of Rashid Khan rescued them on both occasions.

In the first innings, SRH were in dire straits having lost quite a few wickets. Nevertheless, Rashid rose to the occasion and played a cameo of 34 runs from 10 balls, which boosted Sunrisers’ score to 174 in 20 overs. He smacked four sixes and two boundaries in the death overs to put the skids under Kolkata’s bowlers. The teenager plundered 24 runs off Prasidh Krishna in the 20th over.

Following the knock, Rashid talked about his approach during the knock. “Started my career as a batsman, and I have the belief. Just try my best to look into the length and play according to the length. Focus was to play straight, that’s what the coaches said. So where the slower ball or anything, played straight and got runs,” he said in the post-match presentation.

The Afghanistan prodigy was also phenomenal with the leather. He churned out a masterful spell of 4-0-19-3, which ripped the heart out of Kolkata’s explosive lineup. “It was much needed for me, just tried my best to give 100% in bowling, batting and fielding. Full focus was to believe in my skills. Much happy with the batting today which was needed at the end,” he added.

The Sunrisers will now lock horns with the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. Rashid was exceptional against the same opponents in the Qualifier 1 and will want to replicate the same performance at the very venue.
