The Kings XI Punjab team hasn’t had a great run in the Indian Premier League of late. Barring one IPL final in 2014, the team has been much out of sorts. However, they will be hoping to put up a better show this year. They revamped their squad and got in some youthful exuberance into it. There are, of course, the senior players who will be more than handy to any side.

Ahead of the eleventh season of the league, the KXIP franchise finally revealed the name of their skipper just a few days ago. Ravichandran Ashwin, who was viewed as a captaincy option ahead of the IPL auction was named their skipper. This is the first ever time Ashwin will captain a side at such a level and seems to be excited about the job. He spoke about different things about the IPL in a recent interview. Furthermore, Ashwin is a very smart cricketer and the franchise hopes that he will deliver the goods this year.

Excited to see how Mujeeb goes: Ravi Ashwin

In the interview conducted by KXIP, Ashwin shared various new things that the fans never knew. He spoke about the wonderful opportunity that he’s got. The most striking thing in the interview was about Afghanistan‘s young spinner Mujeeb Zadran. Mujeeb could well be the youngest to have ever played in the IPL if he gets a chance this year. The 16-year-old seems to excite Ravichandran Ashwin with his talent and Aswin went on to say that Mujeeb could also be the X-factor for the team.

Ashwin also hoped that the young Afghanistan player will come good in the upcoming IPL. “We brought a rookie spinner from Afghanistan, Mujeeb Zardran. I’m really excited to see how he goes. He could well be the X-factor we are looking for. Having said that, he is a young guy and I really look forward to seeing him up close,” elucidated the ace spinner while talking to Virender Sehwag.

The young lad who was born in 2001 already featured in the Afghanistan team. He played in 8 ODI games and 2 T20I games and picked 19 and 2 wickets respectively. It would be interesting to see how the youngster goes about this IPL who so much pressure and expectation. It would also be a great feeling for him to have his captain’s backing already.
