Ahead of the season last year, they were dealt with a huge blow when David Warner was suspended for one year due to his involvement in the ball-tampering saga that broke out back in March last year in Cape Town. They’ve been a big disappointment across seasons as they have never won an IPL season despite having some of the biggest names in T20 cricket. After reaching the final in 2016, the Challengers have failed to make it to the playoffs in the last two editions of the extravaganza.
