Chennai Super Kings could once again miss their talismanic skipper MS Dhoni for the upcoming clash against Delhi Capitals. Dhoni had also missed the Super Kings’ previous clash which was against Mumbai Indians due to illness. Head coach Stephen Fleming has now given a rather disappointing update on Dhoni for both the team and the fans. He said that the skipper had been ‘pretty sick’ last week and a call on his participation will be taken just before the toss.

The signs are not very promising for the Super Kings at the moment. Dhoni could not take part in Tuesday’s training session and also missed the practice on Monday. With the playoffs ahead, it is highly likely that CSK might rest their skipper although the temptation to seal a place among the top two tonight could make them decide otherwise. With 8 wins from 12 games, Super Kings have already sealed their playoff spot. They now need just one more win from two games to certainly seal a spot in the top two.

“Dhoni is progressing and he’s been pretty sick during this week. We will make a call on him tomorrow. He is progressing which is good,” Fleming told reporters on eve of the game.

CSK have struggled without Dhoni this season. They have played two games in his absence and have lost both of them with their batting flopping on both occasions. In their last outing against Mumbai, they were all out for just 109. Dhoni is Super Kings’ top run-scorer this season with 314 runs from 10 outings.

Update on other players:

Apart from MS Dhoni, Stephen Fleming also gave an update on Faf du Plessis and Ravindra Jadeja. Both the players had missed the clash against Mumbai but are now available for selection.

“Faf’s been fine. Whenever he wears a singlet, means he is in good shape. Jadeja’s training well. They are definitely into consideration for tomorrow,” said Fleming.
