The business end of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is here for the fans, where fortunes shift, fairytales are written, heartbreaks are endured and most importantly, drama takes center stage. We will have to wait till the final ball of the league stage to know the fourth team which qualifies for the playoffs, a testament to how close this tournament has been.

This edition has given life to some youngsters like Navdeep Saini, Rahul Chahar, Riyan Parag and many others, doing justice to the main agenda of the tournament, to promote young Indian talents. Some veterans like <a href="https://www.crictracker.com/ipl-2019-harbhajan-singh-misses-ms-dhoni-after-ambati-rayudu-failed-to-spot-a-knick/" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><strong>Harbhajan Singh</strong></a>, Chris Gayle and Imran Tahir too defied their age and competed toe-to-toe with these youngsters, showing that class eventually is permanent.

Coming to the bad side, so many cricketers who were expected to bring great balance to the side, struggled big time. Here is a list of one capped cricketer from each team, who turned out to be a huge disappointment.

After such a sensational campaign last season, no one expected <a href="https://www.crictracker.com/vvs-laxman-stands-by-ambati-rayudu-likens-his-situation-to-his-own-in-2003/" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><strong>Ambati Rayudu</strong></a>&#8216;s performances to dip so low. His career took a different turn after last season&#8217;s heroics, he entered the Indian side, played a majority of the matches as the number four leading up to the World Cup, yet his poor run in late December and early 2019 saw the selectors show a cold shoulder to him.

Rayudu scored 218 runs this season, but most importantly, he failed to keep his strike-rate above 100 (90.83). In this format, for a top order batsman, that is a major failure no matter what. He scored just one fifty despite playing all the games and maintained a below-par average of 21.80. It will take a great mental effort for Rayudu to get through of what happened in the last few weeks.<br>

After realizing they had too many openers in the side, <a href="https://www.crictracker.com/ipl-2019-match-53-dc-vs-rr-delhi-capitals-player-ratings/" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><strong>Delhi Capitals</strong></a> had to go for an experienced middle-order batsman in the auction. They eventually went for the South African Colin Ingram, who cost Rs 6.4 crore. Ingram was an integral part of Adelaide Strikers&#8217; title-winning BBL campaign in 2017/18 and boasts of great experience in the format.

In 12 matches for the Capitals this season, the Proteas cricketer could only register 184 runs and failed to register even a single fifty-plus score. With an underwhelming average of 18.40, Ingram&#8217;s inconsistency might&#8217;ve just cost the Capitals a place in the top two. It will be interesting to see if they continue their association with him next season.<br>

For the second year running, Ben Cutting had a very poor outing with the Mumbai Indians in the few games he got to play. His IPL career was pretty brilliant when he was with the Sunrisers Hyderabad, where he produced a Man of the Match performance in the 2016 final at the Chinnaswamy and helped the <strong><a href="https://www.crictracker.com/ipl-2019-match-54-rcb-vs-srh-funniest-memes-from-the-match/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Orange Army</a></strong> clinch a title.

All of that is now in history as Cutting has not enjoyed his time at a new franchise very well. He played just three games this season and conceded runs at over 13 an over. With the bat, despite getting a couple of chances to bat in the top order, he could muster only 18 runs. MI expected him to add great balance to the side but unfortunately for them, that wasn&#8217;t to be the case.<br>

4. Kolkata Knight Riders &#8211; Kuldeep Yadav

<a href="https://www.crictracker.com/jacques-kallis-doesnt-feel-kuldeeps-form-is-anything-to-worry-about-in-world-cup/" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><strong>Kuldeep Yadav</strong></a> is perhaps one of the top three best spinners in this country and is expected to play a very significant role in the World Cup for the Indian side. With so many expectations on his shoulders, the young chinaman bowler endured perhaps his worst ever IPL season, which includes getting smashed for 28 runs in an over against RCB.

Kuldeep picked up just four wickets in the nine matches he played and conceded runs profusely at an economy of 8.66. The youngster usually does a great job in tricking the batsmen with his variations, but it seemed like they were able to read him off the pitch very easily, a scary sign ahead of the World Cup for Team India. A huge test of character awaits the youngster who probably could achieve unparalleled greatness if he can get over these barriers.<br>

5. Sunrisers Hyderabad &#8211; Vijay Shankar

<a href="https://www.crictracker.com/sourav-ganguly-feels-vijay-shankar-will-bowl-well-in-icc-world-cup-2019/" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><strong>Vijay Shankar</strong></a> started the tournament on such a positive note, striking sixes for fun and also registered some crucial partnerships with the high-flying SRH top order. He lost his golden touch out of the blue, resulting in the Sunrisers losing their way completely in the middle stages. For a player who finds himself in the World Cup squad, not registering a fifty-plus score is a major disappointment.

With 219 runs in 14 games for the Sunrisers, he clearly hasn&#8217;t contributed as much as the fans had expected him to. The Tamil Nadu all-rounder barely got a chance to bowl in the tournament, which didn&#8217;t serve the purpose of his selection as an all-rounder in the side. Sometimes you look at a few players and wonder what exactly is their role in the team. Colin de Grandhomme is one such player, whose job description during his two-year time with the <a href="https://www.crictracker.com/ipl-2019-match-54-rcb-vs-srh-royal-challengers-bangalore-player-ratings/" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><strong>RCB</strong></a> has been very unspecific, which resulted in him delivering some very poor performances. Well, the management here can be blamed, but eventually, it is the player who lacked commitment and that reflects in his statistics.

He bowled five overs in this season and conceded 55 runs without picking a wicket. He clearly wasn&#8217;t even a backup bowling option for Kohli. With the bat, which happens to be his forte, he amassed 46 runs in four innings at a strike-rate of less than 100. Interestingly, 37 off those 49 runs came in one match where he helped RCB avoid the worst defeat in IPL history in the hands of Sunrisers.<br>

<p>The business end of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is here for the fans, where fortunes shift, fairytales are written, heartbreaks are endured and most importantly, drama takes center stage. We will have to wait till the final ball of the league stage to know the fourth team which qualifies for the playoffs, a testament to how close this tournament has been.</p>
<p>This edition has given life to some youngsters like Navdeep Saini, Rahul Chahar, Riyan Parag and many others, doing justice to the main agenda of the tournament, to promote young Indian talents. Some veterans like <a href="https://www.crictracker.com/ipl-2019-harbhajan-singh-misses-ms-dhoni-after-ambati-rayudu-failed-to-spot-a-knick/" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><strong>Harbhajan Singh</strong></a>, Chris Gayle and Imran Tahir too defied their age and competed toe-to-toe with these youngsters, showing that class eventually is permanent.</p>
<p>Coming to the bad side, so many cricketers who were expected to bring great balance to the side, struggled big time. Here is a list of one capped cricketer from each team, who turned out to be a huge disappointment.</p>
<h3>1. Chennai Super Kings &#8211; Ambati Rayudu</h3>

<p>After such a sensational campaign last season, no one expected <a href="https://www.crictracker.com/vvs-laxman-stands-by-ambati-rayudu-likens-his-situation-to-his-own-in-2003/" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><strong>Ambati Rayudu</strong></a>&#8216;s performances to dip so low. His career took a different turn after last season&#8217;s heroics, he entered the Indian side, played a majority of the matches as the number four leading up to the World Cup, yet his poor run in late December and early 2019 saw the selectors show a cold shoulder to him.</p>
<p>Rayudu scored 218 runs this season, but most importantly, he failed to keep his strike-rate above 100 (90.83). In this format, for a top order batsman, that is a major failure no matter what. He scored just one fifty despite playing all the games and maintained a below-par average of 21.80. It will take a great mental effort for Rayudu to get through of what happened in the last few weeks.<br>

<h3>2. Delhi Capitals &#8211; Colin Ingram</h3>

<p>After realizing they had too many openers in the side, <a href="https://www.crictracker.com/ipl-2019-match-53-dc-vs-rr-delhi-capitals-player-ratings/" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><strong>Delhi Capitals</strong></a> had to go for an experienced middle-order batsman in the auction. They eventually went for the South African Colin Ingram, who cost Rs 6.4 crore. Ingram was an integral part of Adelaide Strikers&#8217; title-winning BBL campaign in 2017/18 and boasts of great experience in the format.</p>
<p>In 12 matches for the Capitals this season, the Proteas cricketer could only register 184 runs and failed to register even a single fifty-plus score. With an underwhelming average of 18.40, Ingram&#8217;s inconsistency might&#8217;ve just cost the Capitals a place in the top two. It will be interesting to see if they continue their association with him next season.<br>

<h3>3. Mumbai Indians &#8211; Ben Cutting</h3>

<p>For the second year running, Ben Cutting had a very poor outing with the Mumbai Indians in the few games he got to play. His IPL career was pretty brilliant when he was with the Sunrisers Hyderabad, where he produced a Man of the Match performance in the 2016 final at the Chinnaswamy and helped the <strong><a href="https://www.crictracker.com/ipl-2019-match-54-rcb-vs-srh-funniest-memes-from-the-match/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Orange Army</a></strong> clinch a title.</p>
<p>All of that is now in history as Cutting has not enjoyed his time at a new franchise very well. He played just three games this season and conceded runs at over 13 an over. With the bat, despite getting a couple of chances to bat in the top order, he could muster only 18 runs. MI expected him to add great balance to the side but unfortunately for them, that wasn&#8217;t to be the case.<br>

<h3>4. Kolkata Knight Riders &#8211; Kuldeep Yadav</h3>

<p><a href="https://www.crictracker.com/jacques-kallis-doesnt-feel-kuldeeps-form-is-anything-to-worry-about-in-world-cup/" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><strong>Kuldeep Yadav</strong></a> is perhaps one of the top three best spinners in this country and is expected to play a very significant role in the World Cup for the Indian side. With so many expectations on his shoulders, the young chinaman bowler endured perhaps his worst ever IPL season, which includes getting smashed for 28 runs in an over against RCB.</p>
<p>Kuldeep picked up just four wickets in the nine matches he played and conceded runs profusely at an economy of 8.66. The youngster usually does a great job in tricking the batsmen with his variations, but it seemed like they were able to read him off the pitch very easily, a scary sign ahead of the World Cup for Team India. A huge test of character awaits the youngster who probably could achieve unparalleled greatness if he can get over these barriers.<br>

<h3>5. Sunrisers Hyderabad &#8211; Vijay Shankar</h3>

<p><a href="https://www.crictracker.com/sourav-ganguly-feels-vijay-shankar-will-bowl-well-in-icc-world-cup-2019/" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><strong>Vijay Shankar</strong></a> started the tournament on such a positive note, striking sixes for fun and also registered some crucial partnerships with the high-flying SRH top order. He lost his golden touch out of the blue, resulting in the Sunrisers losing their way completely in the middle stages. For a player who finds himself in the World Cup squad, not registering a fifty-plus score is a major disappointment.</p>
<p>With 219 runs in 14 games for the Sunrisers, he clearly hasn&#8217;t contributed as much as the fans had expected him to. The Tamil Nadu all-rounder barely got a chance to bowl in the tournament, which didn&#8217;t serve the purpose of his selection as an all-rounder in the side. It&#8217;ll be interesting to see if he can get over this poor performance ahead of the big tournament.<br>

<h3>6. Royal Challengers Bangalore &#8211; Colin de Grandhomme</h3>

<p>Sometimes you look at a few players and wonder what exactly is their role in the team. Colin de Grandhomme is one such player, whose job description during his two-year time with the <a href="https://www.crictracker.com/ipl-2019-match-54-rcb-vs-srh-royal-challengers-bangalore-player-ratings/" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><strong>RCB</strong></a> has been very unspecific, which resulted in him delivering some very poor performances. Well, the management here can be blamed, but eventually, it is the player who lacked commitment and that reflects in his statistics.</p>
<p>He bowled five overs in this season and conceded 55 runs without picking a wicket. He clearly wasn&#8217;t even a backup bowling option for Kohli. With the bat, which happens to be his forte, he amassed 46 runs in four innings at a strike-rate of less than 100. Interestingly, 37 off those 49 runs came in one match where he helped RCB avoid the worst defeat in IPL history in the hands of Sunrisers.<br>

<h3>7. Kings XI Punjab &#8211; David Miller</h3>

<p>Once upon a time, when he scored that lightning century against the Royal Challengers Bangalore at the IS Bindra Stadium, <a href="https://www.crictracker.com/icc-world-cup-2019-david-miller-feels-kagiso-rabada-will-do-well-for-south-africa/" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><strong>David Miller</strong></a> was touted as the future of South African cricket. His ability to tonk the ball with such ease was very mesmerizing for the fans. Apart from a couple of seasons where he amassed runs for fun, Miller&#8217;s stay with the Punjab franchise has not been very great.</p>
<p>In the 10 matches he played for Punjab this season, Miller registered 213 runs at an average of 26.62, which includes one half-century against Kolkata Knight Riders which held no importance in the result. This franchise has been over-reliant on a couple of batsmen to score the runs and with players like Miller not chipping in regularly, their job only became more complexed.<br>

<p>Ben Stokes&#8217; first season in IPL was perhaps one of the finest debut season performances of all time. The English cricketer came in with a price tag of INR 14.5 crore, yet managed to produce an MVP winning performance. Things didn&#8217;t work the same way for Rajasthan Royals, who continued their association with Stokes, who they bought for INR 12.5 crore last season.</p>
<p>It has been another horrible season for the English all-rounder, who is yet to deliver a top performance ever since he was involved in that brawl in Birmingham. In 9 matches this season, he registered only 123 runs and picked up just six wickets with the ball at an economy rate of 11.22. His poor run reflected on the performance of the side as well, who got knocked out registering just five wins in 14 games.</p>
