Royal Challengers Bangalore’s (RCB) wait for their maiden IPL trophy continues as they are knocked out of the ongoing 13th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2020) after losing against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the eliminator by 6 wickets at the Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium in Abu Dhabi. While RCB’s campaign comes to an end, SRH will next lock horns with an extremely hurt Delhi Capitals (DC) in the 2nd Qualifiers on November 8 to fight for a place in the finals against Mumbai Indians (MI).

Invited to bat first, the Bangalore outfit’s batting line-up witnessed another collapse owing to a clinical bowling performance by the Orange Army. Jason Holder and Sandeep Sharma provided a good start as Holder named the wickets of Virat Kohli and Devdutt Paddikal while Sandeep restricted the flow of runs.

Aaron Finch and AB de Villiers tried to stitch a partnership in the middle by collecting a 41-run stand, but pacer Shahbaz Nadeem gave the much-needed breakthrough to his team by sending Finch back to the pavilion. The onus fell on De Villiers and he tried to smash as many balls he could but lost his wicket in the 18th over after scoring 56 runs off 43 deliveries. As a result, Virat Kohli & Co. had to settle with a below-par total of 131 runs for 7 wickets in their 20 overs.

Kane Williamson snatches the game away from RCB

Chasing 132 looked like a cakewalk for the Orange Army as in their last meet with RCB they had successfully chased down 120 runs in 14.1 overs. However, Bangalore’s bowling unit had different plans and they were all set to fight tooth and nail for a place in the 2nd Qualifiers. Mohammed Siraj was again brilliant with the new ball as he named the two major wickets of Shreevats Goswami and David Warner.

The spin duo of Yuzvendra Chahal and Adam Zampa was not behind as they stemmed the run-flow and took one wicket each to take Hyderabad to a score of 67/4 in 11.5. Kane Williamson kept his calm and he was aptly supported by Holder as the two together helped SRH to get a step closer to the coveted trophy.
