The IPL Auction 2020 is done and dusted. All the teams have covered their loopholes as the fans are ready for yet another exciting edition of the Indian Premier League. While there were a lot of surprises in the auction, several players like Ashok Dinda, Mushfiqur Rahim and Alex Hales went unsold at the highly-anticipated event.

Pat Cummins fetched the biggest bid as Kolkata Knight Riders signed him for a mega amount of 15.50 crores INR. No one would have expected him to go for such a huge price however, the unpredictability is the reason why IPL Auction is one of the most watched auctions of the world. Just like every coin has two sides, not every player was so lucky as Cummins.

There were a bunch of players who did not attract a bid in the auction but the following 5 players were very unlucky to attract a bid at the IPL 2020 Auction:

1. Rohan Kadam

The fans who follow Karnataka Premier League would have a clear idea about the talent possessed by the middle-order batsman Rohan Kadam. He has been brilliant in the KPL besides he also has fired for Karnataka in the domestic limited overs tournaments.

The upcoming batsman deserved an IPL contract because of his consistency in the T20 format. He can bat anywhere in the middle order depending upon the situation and can even slam some big hits in the slog overs. Kadam could have been a valuable addition to Sunrisers Hyderabad.

Unfortunately, the Orange Army was more interested in the services of Priyam Garg and Virat Singh. Hence, they ignored Kadam in the auction. His home franchise Royal Challengers Bangalore too did not seem into him as the Karnataka player will not feature in the upcoming IPL tourney.

2. Yusuf Pathan

Yusuf Pathan has been one of the biggest match-winners in IPL history. Be it scoring a 37-ball hundred for Rajasthan Royals or playing some quickfire knocks for Kolkata Knight Riders, Pathan has done it all. He can even bowl a few overs of off-spin the middle.

The all-rounder has lost his touch with time but no one can deny the fact that on his day, none of the bowlers can stop him. He has won IPL titles with both Rajasthan Royals and Kolkata Knight Riders. In fact, he was one of the most sought after players in the IPL 2011 auction.

Unfortunately, his previous stint with Sunrisers Hyderabad was not so special. Also, his domestic performances have not been upto the mark. Thus, the franchises did not go after him in this year’s auction. The IPL fans will miss him a lot in 2020.

3. Ben Cutting

Although he is known for his hard-hitting skills in T20 cricket, Ben Cutting has never received a chance to prove himself in the IPL. The teams have always used him as a second all-rounder or an injury replacement. Cutting is a proven match-winner yet he failed to garner any bids at the auction.

He is a very big name in the Big Bash League while the Aussie also played well in the T10 League. Mumbai Indians was his last franchise but his most memorable time in the IPL came when he was a part of the Orange Army- Sunrisers Hyderabad.

He had won the IPL 2016 final for them with his quickfire cameo with the bat. Royal Challengers Bangalore had not planned much for the right-handed batsman and, ultimately his innings made the difference. Since Shakib Al Hasan will miss IPL 2020, the fans had expected Cutting to return to the Orange Army.

4. Colin Munro

One of the world’s finest T20 batsman, Colin Munro had played for Delhi Capitals in the previous IPL season. The left-handed opener has been phenomenal for New Zealand in T20 internationals. Also, he is consistent in the shorter formats.

Yet, his inability to play well in the Indian conditions denied him an IPL contract. Munro has a T20 hundred in India however, the franchises seemed to have zero interest when his name came up in the auction. The New Zealander could have been bought by Mumbai Indians who instead signed Chris Lynn.

The flat pitch at the Wankhede Stadium would assist a batsman like Munro and, he could have continued his form in the tournament from there onwards. Unfortunately, the Mumbai Indians team management had more interest in Lynn as they did not bid for the Kiwi opener.

5. Moises Henriques

The Portugal-born Australian all-rounder, Moises Henriques has not had the luck by his side when it comes to the Indian Premier League. Just like Ben Cutting, Henriques has been used as a secondary player by the IPL franchises and co-incidentally, Henriques’ best time came during his stint with Sunrisers Hyderabad.

The right-handed batting all-rounder always provides value to the team with his ability to perform well in both the departments. Instead of splurging 10 Crores for Chris Morris, Royal Challengers Bangalore could have bought Henriques at a cheaper price.

He provides the same services in fact, he is a better batsman than Morris. Henriques was a part of Kings XI Punjab last year. He was set to make his KXIP debut in 2019 however, a last minute injury ruled him out of the contest. Hence, he is one of the unluckiest players in the IPL.
