Delhi Capitals (DC) have done reasonably in the 2020 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). The team, captained by Shreyas Iyer, have won seven out of their 10 matches and are placed in the top half of the points table.

In their previous match, Kings XI Punjab (KXIP), led by KL Rahul, defeated them by five wickets on Tuesday, October 20 at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. The Capitals are next set to lock horns with the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on Saturday, October 24 at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi.

In their last meeting, it was the Capitals, who came out trumps and they would want to make it two out of two against the Men in Gold and Purple. For the time being, it remains to be seen if DC make any changes to their winning lineup.

Here is the Predicted Playing XI for the Delhi Capitals for KKR vs DC game:

Openers (Prithvi Shaw, Shikhar Dhawan)

The Capitals may not tinker with their winning combination just yet. Prithvi Shaw needs to get back his rhythm at the earliest. In the last four innings, he got a mere 11 runs at an abysmal average of 3.75.

Shaw also got a couple of ducks and would desperately want to get back amongst the runs. Shikhar Dhawan, on the other hand, has found his rhythm and he seems to be unstoppable.

The left-hander notched back-to-back tons and became the first batsman in the IPL to accomplish the feat. He needs to carry on with his form. He has also managed to increase his strike, which is at 149.03.

Middle-order (Rishabh Pant, Shreyas Iyer (C), Shimron Hetmyer

In the middle-order, the Capitals made a couple of changes last time around. After Rishabh Pant returned from his hamstring injury, Alex Carey was left out. Ajinkya Rahane also made way for Shimron Hetmyer.

However, both Pant and Hetmyer failed to make an impact against Kings XI. Shreyas Iyer is currently the second-highest run-scorer for the Capitals. In 10 matches, the DC captain has 335 runs at a handsome average and strike-rate of 37.22 and 131.37 respectively.

All three of Iyer, Pant, and Hetmyer are explosive prospects with the bat and need to deliver the goods.

All-rounders (Marcus Stoinis, Axar Patel)

In the all-rounder’s category, Marcus Stoinis remains to be their standout performer. The Melbourne Stars player has 226 runs at a strike-rate of 158.94. The veteran has to be on top of his game.

Stoinis has also been mightily effective with the ball as he has six wickets to show for his valiant efforts.  Axar Patel has shown the damage he can do with the bat in hand after took on Ravindra Jadeja in Sharjah.

Though he doesn’t get many chances with the bat, he remains to be a key aspect in the bowling department. The left-arm spinner has eight wickets at an excellent economy of 5.74.

Bowlers (Ravi Ashwin, Tushar Deshpande, Kagiso Rabada, Anrich Nortje)

In the bowling department, Kagiso Rabada has turned out to be a brute force to reckon with. With 21 wickets, he has picked up wickets in every other game he has been a part of in the ongoing tournament.

Tushar Deshpande went for a few last times and he would wish to make some amends. Ravi Ashwin has eight wickets to his name and he has been tough to get away.

His economy rate of 7.11 has meant that he hasn’t given much to the batters to work with. Anrich Nortje, who has 12 wickets to his name, may come back into the eleven, replacing Australian cricketer Daniel Sams.
