Rajasthan Royals, on Friday night, not only had the support of their fans but also of Sunrisers Hyderabad and Kolkata Knight Riders due to playoff scenarios. The prayers of multiple franchises did work in the favour of the Royals against the Kings XI Punjab despite a breezy knock from Chris Gayle. Universe Boss smashed eight sixes during KXIP vs RR by which he got past 1000 sixes in Twenty20 cricket. Gayle fell one run short of his maiden ton while not opening the batting in the Twenty20 format.

Despite all his efforts, the 41-year-old earned an impact of only +9.50 as his strike rate during KXIP vs RR was only 112.20. Another Caribbean batsman in the Kings XI Punjab line-up, Nicholas Pooran got an impact of +8.03 with help of his short cameo. However, it was KL Rahul’s whose knock can be considered to have cost the Kings XI Punjab. Rahul scored only 46 runs in the 41 balls he faced despite hitting 26 runs through boundaries. The Punjab skipper earned a negative impact of -16.95 which is among the worst of the tournament.

Ben Stokes reached fifty in only 24 balls and got out two balls later even before the powerplay of Rajasthan Royals got completed. The knock earned an impact of +10.61 which was the 2nd highest batting impact of the match. Stokes earned the 2nd highest bowling impact of KXIP vs RR as he got +9.52 for his figures of 2/32. The star all-rounder from England ended up with a match impact of +20.13 which was the highest during Friday’s match as per the CricTracker’s Match Impact Ratings.

Sanju Samson showed signs of getting back to form with a 25-ball 48 before getting runout in a rather unfortunate manner. This helped the keeper-batsman to earn an impact rating of 11.34 which was the highest among the batsmen during KXIP vs RR. Only one player during the match earned a bowling impact over 10 during the game. It was Jofra Archer (+11.27) who got the better of Mandeep Singh in the first over and Chris Gayle in the final over. The speedster conceded only 26 runs in his four overs and was easily the most economical bowler of the game.
