Rohit Sharma extended his lead in terms of title wins as a captain and also as a player in the Indian Premier League (IPL) as his team Mumbai Indians cruised to their record 5th title. The fortunes of Mumbai franchise and Rohit himself turned ever since he took over as captain in the 2013 season. In space of eight seasons, Mumbai has earned five titles under Rohit’s captaincy and also added a CLT20 title under their belt. Sharma went ahead to serve Indian team as vice-captain of limited-overs where also he tasted success in multi-nation tournaments.

Here are all the records and milestones that Rohit Sharma created during the IPL 2020 final:

5/5Rohit Sharma has won each of the five IPL finals which he played as a captain. No other player in IPL history has more than three titles as skipper. Previously, Rohit won titles as captain in 2013, 2015, 2017 and 2019; all while leading the Mumbai Indians.

His five IPL final appearances as captain are the 2nd most behind MS Dhoni’s eight. Till date, only Dhoni (2010-2011) and Rohit (2019-2020) have been successful in defending their IPL titles as captain.

6/6 – Rohit has been part of six IPL finals and has ended up on the winning side in all those six. Kieron Pollard is next on the list for being part of five IPL final wins.

7 – Rohit also had 100% record while leading in the finals of T20 competitions. Alongside the five IPL titles, Sharma won a CLT20 (in 2013 with MI) and a Nidahas Tri-series (in 2018 with India). With the seven wins in the finals, Rohit has become the joint-most successful captain in T20 cricket alongside MS Dhoni (7 wins in 13 finals).

10 – Rohit Sharma has been part of ten final wins in the T20 format which are the most for an Indian and the 4th most overall. Finals of WT20 2007, IPL 2009 and Asia Cup 2016 are the only T20 finals where Rohit ended up on the winning side while not leading the team.

Kieron Pollard occupies the top spot by being part of 15 T20 final wins including the final against Delhi by going past Dwayne Bravo’s 14 T20 wins. Shoaib Malik is 3rd on this list by being part of 12 final victories in T20 cricket till date.

68 – The 68-run knock by Rohit Sharma in the MI vs DC final is now the highest by a captain while chasing in an IPL final. This is also the first fifty by a captain during a successful chase in an IPL final.

Rohit’s 68 is also the 2nd highest individual score by a captain in an IPL final behind David Warner’s 69 against RCB in 2016 IPL. Rohit is also the first captain with multiple fifties in IPL finals as he scored exactly 50 against CSK in the 2013 edition finale.

90.91 – Teams with Rohit Sharma in their playing XI during the T20 tournament finals have got a win percentage of 90.91 which is the highest involving any player. (Min: 10 finals) The 2014 WT20 final was the only time when Rohit’s team ended up on the losing side in a T20 tournament final.
