The 37th match of the Indian Premier League is currently underway between Punjab Kings and Sunrisers Hyderabad in Sharjah. SRH’s poor campaign in 2021 has seen them sitting continuously in the bottom half of the table, while PBKS have been guilty of not being able to close games and making things difficult for themselves.

Both the teams entered into this contest with losses behind their back as SRH lost to Delhi Capitals by eight wickets, while PBKS inexplicably choked against Rajasthan Royals to lose the encounter by just two runs.

Winning the toss in Sharjah, Kane Williamson, the SRH skipper, opted to field. “We are going to have a bowl, chances of dew coming in later on and it’s a small ground. We will try to restrict them to a low score. it’s about staying tight together and making small adjustments. It’s important to keep coming up with that energy and at times it’s easy to reflect on past performances where we have done better but we need to play with that freedom. We are playing the same team,” he said.

His counterpart, KL Rahul, said: I was unsure of what to do. That (last) game it can either deflate you or make you go fearless. Everyone is keen to get out there and turn this around. We have three changes. Fabien Allen, Porel and Adil Rashid are out. Ellis, Gayle and Ravi Bishnoi are back in the team. When you are the bottom of the table, you are still trying to figure out what your best eleven is. With Chris back in the side, it gives me and Mayank a lot of breathing space at the top. Chris has always delivered for us and hope he can do that again for us today.

VRV Singh predicts PBKS to win

Speaking at CricTracker’s Live Show In The Air, former Indian cricketer VRV Singh predicted Punjab Kings to win.

“Punjab Kings have got a brilliant chance and they have also included Chris Gayle today. I expect them to give a fight. They lost the previous game but they need to bounce back quickly”.
