David Warner scored his first half-century of IPL 2022

Coming back to the contest, the explosive Australian opener regained his mojo with the bat as he went after the Kolkata bowlers right from the beginning. He added 93 runs along with youngster Prithvi Shaw for the opening wicket. Shaw scored 51 runs from 29 balls. Warner was then involved in a 55-run stand with skipper Rishabh Pant, who scored a 14-ball 27.

The Aussie batter held the innings from one end despite losing quick wickets at the other end as he scored his first half-century of the season. Warner was eventually dismissed for 61 runs from 45 deliveries as he scored at a strike rate of 135.56, smashing six fours and two sixes in the process. Valuable contributions from the lower-order duo of Axar Patel and Shardul Thakur powered Delhi to a mammoth 215/5 from their 20 overs.

In reply, the Delhi bowlers chipped in with wickets at regular intervals and despite a valiant 33-ball 54 from Shreyas Iyer, KKR were bundled out for 171 in the final over as the Delhi Capitals won the contest by 44 runs. David Warner would be hoping to make his bat do the talking once again during DC’s next game against RCB at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on April 16.
