Australian and Gujarat Titans (GT) batter Matthew Wade smoked a massive six during Gujarat Titans’ chase in the IPL 2022 final against Rajasthan Royals. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) secretary was also left impressed with the maximum. Indian pacer Prasidh Krishna was on the receiving end.

It was the fourth over of the second innings and Prasidh bowled a delivery angling towards his leg and the left-handed batter picked the ball and deposited it long over the deep backward square leg. Shah was impressed with the hit and the same was evident in his expressions. Unfortunately for GT, the wicketkeeper-batter was dismissed by the Kiwi pacer Trent Boult in the very next over.

Matthew Wade scored eight runs in the final match

Meanwhile, the left-handed batter arrived at the crease after the fall of wicketkeeper-batter Wriddhiman Saha. Wade looked scratchy from the start and was not able to rotate the strike easily.  The left-handed batter stroked only one boundary against Krishna and got out in the next over.

Earlier in the match, Rajasthan Royals won the toss and opted to bat first. RR had a decent start with Yashasvi Jaiswal and Jos Buttler playing nicely. However, Jaiswal was scalped by Yash Dayal. Jaiswal was replaced by skipper Sanju Samson and he played a few strokes before getting out on the bowling of GT captain Hardik Pandya.

The left-handed batter Devdutt Padikkal took ten balls to score just two runs before getting scalped by Rashid Khan. However, the prized wicket of Buttler was scalped by Pandya as he got out after scoring 39 runs. The Royals never recovered from the blow and kept giving away wickets. They were eventually restricted to 130/9 in their allotted 20 overs.

For GT, Mohammed Shami (one wicket), Dayal (one wicket), Rashid (one wicket), Sai Kishore (two wickets), and Pandya (three wickets) were the successful bowlers. In reply, the new entrants crossed the line in just 18.1 overs with skipper Hardik, Shubman Gill and David Miller making vital contributions.
