Delhi Capitals (DC) bowled exceedingly well as Punjab Kings (PBKS) were bundled out for just 115 runs in the 20 overs to hand their opponents a comfortable nine-wicket victory in Match 32 of IPL 2022 at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai. Axar Patel was the stand-out bowler for the Capitals as the spinner took two wickets for just ten runs in his four-over spell. Khaleel Ahmed and Kuldeep Yadav also bowled brilliantly to take 2/21 and 2/24 respectively.

Speaking about how the match panned out, Rishabh Pant won the toss and elected to field first. They made one forced change as Covid-positive Mitchell Marsh was replaced by Sarfaraz Khan. PBKS went into the game with two changes as skipper Agarwal returned and replaced Prabhsimran Singh while Odean Smith made way for the Australian bowler Nathan Ellis.

Agarwal made 24 runs while his opening partner Shikhar Dhawan could only manage nine. Jonny Bairstow’s lean run in this IPL continued as he also got dismissed for just nine. Liam Livingstone couldn’t go big today as he amassed just two runs. Wicketkeeper-batter Jitesh Sharma provided some impetus with his 23-ball 32 runs knock but Shahrukh Khan struggled as the power-hitter scored 12 runs off 20 deliveries.

Chasing just 116 runs to win, Prithvi Shaw and David Warner shared an 83-run opening stand as DC also registered their highest ever powerplay score of 81 in the IPL. Rahul Chahar dismissed Shaw for 41 runs but Warner slammed his third consecutive half-century and remained unbeaten on 60 runs off just 30 deliveries. The Capitals raced away to the total in just 10.3 overs and won the encounter with 57 balls to spare. With six points, DC are sixth in the table while PBKS slipped to the eighth spot. Spinner Kuldeep Yadav won the Player of the Match award.
