The Sunrisers Hyderabad will be locking horns with the defending champions Chennai Super Kings in Match 46 of IPL 2022 at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune on May 1. SRH will be heading into this contest after a five-wicket loss against the Gujarat Titans in their previous fixture. Meanwhile, the Orange Army would be hoping to make it two out of two over Chennai after having got the better of them by eight wickets in their reverse fixture.

The 2016 winners might have gone down to GT in a last-ball thriller, but they would not be keen on making any changes to their Playing XI and instead, the team management would most probably be interested in fielding the same side once again. Barring the forgettable final over, their batting and bowling were spot on.

Here’s the predicted Playing XI of the Sunrisers Hyderabad for Match 46 of IPL 2022:

Openers: Kane Williamson (c) and Abhishek Sharma

Kane Williamson has just not managed to make an impact on the 22 yards this season. The skipper has so far amassed 148 runs from eight matches averaging 21.14 and a below par strike rate of 93.08 with just a solitary half-century and his highest individual score being 57. He would now be hoping to roar back to form as Hyderabad look to strengthen their playoffs hopes.

On the other hand, Abhishek Sharma scored a blistering knock of 65 runs from 42 deliveries at an impressive strike rate of almost 155 in their last match against Gujarat Titans. Courtesy of this knock, Hyderabad were able to post a stiff total of 195/6 which nearly turned out to be a match-winning one.

Middle-Order: Rahul Tripathi, Aiden Markram, Nicholas Pooran (wk), and Shashank Singh

The Sunrisers Hyderabad have a really good middle-order and the batters in this position can be expected to play some crucial knocks. Rahul Tripathi has blown hot and cold this season. He scored 16 in the last game and now the senior batter would look to come up with an impactful knock in the next match. Aiden Markram played a great supporting knock with Abhishek Sharma and chipped in with a 40-ball 56. The duo was also involved in a 96-run stand for the third wicket.

Caribbean wicketkeeper-batter Nicholas Pooran might have failed against Gujarat, but he can be a destructive player on his day and has also finished off the proceedings on a couple of occasions this season. Shashank Singh played a vital knock against the Gujarat Titans. After losing Abhishek Sharma, Shashank took the responsibility of finishing the SRH innings with an unbeaten 25 runs from just six deliveries.

All-Rounder: Washington Sundar

Washington Sundar was off colour and went wicketless against GT. Nonetheless, the Tamil Nadu all-rounder has four wickets from five matches and has also scored a 40 earlier in the season. Apart from bamboozling the best in the business with his right-arm off-breaks, Sundar can also play impactful knocks lower down the order.

Bowlers: Marco Jansen, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Umran Malik, T Natarajan

Marco Jansen was the most expensive bowler for the former champions in the last game as he went wicketless and conceded 63 runs. More importantly, he was clobbered for 25 runs in the final over by the hard-hitting duo of Rashid Khan and Rahul Tewatia. Bhuvneshwar Kumar also went wicketless and would be eager to be in the wickets column against the Chennai Super Kings.

Umran Malik is only growing from strength to strength as the season is progressing. He dismantled the key GT batters with his thunderous yorkers and registered his maiden IPL fifer to finish with figures of 5/25 that also bagged him the Player of the Match award. ‘Yorker King’ T Natarajan has also been another consistent performer with the ball in hand and also features on the Purple Cap list with 15 wickets from eight outings.

Here’s the Predicted Playing XI of Sunrisers Hyderabad: Kane Williamson (c), Abhishek Sharma, Rahul Tripathi, Aiden Markram, Nicholas Pooran (wk), Shashank Singh, Washington Sundar, Marco Jansen, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Umran Malik, T Natarajan
