After facing a loss in their previous encounter, Punjab Kings made a resounding comeback in their match against the defending champions Chennai Super Kings. The 11th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) was played at the Brabourne Stadium, Mumbai on April 3 (Sunday) in which the Punjab went on to win the contest by 54 runs.

CSK skipper Ravindra Jadeja after winning the toss, invited the Punjab to have a bat first. The batting side posted 180 for eight in 20 overs with Liam Livingstone smashing 60 off 32 balls. Some vital contributions were made by Shikhar Dhawan (33 off 24 balls), Jitesh Sharma (26 off 17 balls) and Rahul Chahar (12 off 8 balls).

Meanwhile, pacers Chris Jordan and Dwaine Pretorius took two wickets for the defending champions. Mukesh Choudhary, Dwayne Bravo, Ravindra Jadeja also scalped a wicket each.

CSK were 36/5 in 7.3 overs

Chasing a target of 181, the Yellow Army batters had no answers to questions posed by Punjab Kings bowlers. The chasing side eventually lost four important wickets inside the powerplay. Robin Uthappa (13 off 10), Ruturaj Gaikwad (1 off 4), Moeen Ali (0 off 2) and skipper Ravindra Jadeja (0 off 3) displayed a very poor batting effort and left their side in a horrible position. One over after the field restrictions, senior batter Ambati Rayudu (13 off 21) followed the suit.

With all CSK batters struggling, it looked like Shivam Dube was batting on a different track. The left-handed batter scored an excellent 57 off just 30 balls, smashing six fours and three sixes. However, it was too much of an ask for him, as he was scalped by pacer Arshdeep Singh.

Since the fall of Dube, none of the other batter, apart from MS Dhoni (23 off 28 balls) managed to cross the double figures. Skipper Mayank Agarwal used six bowling options and all of them at least scalped a wicket. Spinner Rahul Chahar was pick of the bowlers scalping three wickets. Livingstone and Vaibhav Arora scalped two wickets each while Kagiso Rabada, Arshdeep Singh and Odean Smith managed to get one wicket a piece as the defending champions got bowled out for 126/10 in 18 overs.
