The second week in the IPL 9 saw some exciting encounters. The under-performers – Sunrisers Hyderabad, piloted by their skipper David Warner, took the highway route with three back to back victories. Their bowling attack looks to be the most superior in the tournament at the moment. Virat Kohli’s heroics with the bat were not enough for RCB to press their dominance over other teams as they lost 2 out o their three games last week. Their struggle to find an effective bowling lineup seems to be unending for them. The MS Dhoni-led Rising Pune Supergiants were still in search of their first win in the tournament while Mumbai Indians and Delhi Daredevils played out a thriller.

David Warner was undoubtedly the player of the week. The Sunrisers Hyderabad skipper has been milking runs effortlessly, smashing scores of 90* against Mumbai Indians, 74* against Gujarat Lions and 59 against Kings XI Punjab. His performances enabled his team to win three back to back matches after starting the tournament with two successive losses. Past week also saw him engage in a contest for the <strong><a href="http://www.crictracker.com/ipl-9-points-table-purple-cap-orange-cap-fixtures-mi-v-kxip-match-21/" target="_blank">Orange Cap</a></strong> with another prolific run-making machine – Virat Kohli.

Virat Kohli and his run-making show continued this week too. The RCB skipper currently holds the Orange Cap after smashing his maiden IPL century against Gujarat Lions on Sunday. He has shown an insatiable appetite for runs. Apart from the century in the last game, Kohli has scores of 33 and 80 batting at the top for RCB. Unfortunately, Kohli could win only one game out of the three RCB played last week. He would be hoping for a turnaround in the team fortunes.

Ajinkya Rahane, with his consistent performance with the bat, has been the silver lining in Rising Pune Supergiant&#8217;s disastrous tournament so far. The team under the helm of MS Dhoni is still searching for the right combination as RPS lost both the games that they played this week. Shaun Marsh’s comeback in the team after the a bout of illness has infused a new life in the Kings XI Punjab middle-order which has looked very frail due to under-performing players. KXIP played two games last week and Marsh performed in both. He made 56* against KKR and 40 against Sunrisers Hyderabad. Both his knocks played anchor&#8217;s role for the team, guiding them to a respectable total.

The Gujarat Lions skipper Suresh Raina had a good week in the IPL. The soon be father played a superb knock of 75 off just 55 balls in their first match in the past week. The second match was a silent one for him where he scored just 28 off 24 against RCB. Ironically, his best knock went in vain while GL won the match in which he underperformed.

Emerging talent Sanju Samson played a wondrous knock of 60 off 48 balls to help Delhi Daredevils register their win of the season. The Kerala lad came in to bat at No.3 after the fall of Quinton de Kock and along with JP Duminy forged a match-defining partnership to propel DD to a respectable total against Mumbai Indians. It was the only match which DD played last week.

Delhi Daredevils played only one game this week in which they beat Mumbai Indians. While Sanju Samson was the batting star that day, leg-spinner Amit Mishra bowled a wonderful spell of 2/24 to emerge as the top performer with the ball. His spell played a big role in curbing the MI unit from chasing the target. So far, it has been a great tournament for him.

Mustafizur Rahman has been literally unplayable. The left-arm deception artist has been magical and continued his superb time in the IPL. His contribution has been vital in Sunrisers resurgence in the tournament. He began the week with a slight expensive 1/32 against Mumbai Indians. But, the Bangladeshi wonder boy made a solid comeback in the next two match, picking 1/19 against Gujarat Lions and a miserly spell of 2/9 against Kings XI Punjab. His delightful spell against KXIP earned him his first Man of the match award too.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar leads the bowling pack of the Sunrisers Hyderabad. Kumar has been instrumental in providing early breakthroughs for his team. His bowling in the death overs, where he has forged an effective partnership with Mustafizur Rahman, has also been commendable. He opened his week with a four-wicket haul (4/29) against Gujarat Lions. The last match of the week was quite unsatisfactory as he returned with bit expensive figures of 1/37 against KXIP in a relatively low scoring game.

With 11 wickets in the tournament, Mumbai Indians left-arm seamer Mitchell mcClenaghn is the current purple cap holder. In the three matches which MI played past week, McClenaghan returned with figures of 1/46 against RCB, 2/31 against DD and 2/32 against KXIP. McClenaghan has not let MI feel the absence of Malinga, with his accurate bowling in the death overs. However, he has been little expensive with the new ball which ruins his statistics. He must find a way to contain the batsman in his first spell.

<p>With 11 wickets in the tournament, Mumbai Indians left-arm seamer Mitchell mcClenaghn is the current purple cap holder. In the three matches which MI played past week, McClenaghan returned with figures of 1/46 against RCB, 2/31 against DD and 2/32 against KXIP.&nbsp;McClenaghan has&nbsp;not let MI feel the absence of Malinga, with his accurate bowling in the death overs. However, he has been little expensive with the new ball which ruins his statistics. He must find a way to contain the batsman in his first spell.</p>

<p>The second week in the IPL 9 saw some exciting encounters. The under-performers – Sunrisers Hyderabad, piloted by their skipper David Warner, took the highway route with three back to back victories. Their bowling attack looks to be the most superior in the tournament at the moment. Virat Kohli’s heroics with the bat were not enough for RCB to press their dominance over other teams as they lost 2 out o their three games last week. Their struggle to find an effective bowling lineup seems to be unending for them. The MS Dhoni-led Rising Pune Supergiants were still in search of their first win in the tournament while Mumbai Indians and Delhi Daredevils played out a thriller.</p>
<p>Players showcased some spectacular performances during the last week. So, here in this analysis, we try to compile the best playing XI of the top performers.</p>
<h4><strong>1. David Warner (C):</strong></h4>

<p>David Warner was undoubtedly the player of the week. The Sunrisers Hyderabad skipper has been milking runs effortlessly, smashing scores of 90* against Mumbai Indians, 74* against Gujarat Lions and 59 against Kings XI Punjab. His performances enabled his team to win three back to back matches after starting the tournament with two successive losses. Past week also saw him engage in a contest for the <strong><a href="http://www.crictracker.com/ipl-9-points-table-purple-cap-orange-cap-fixtures-mi-v-kxip-match-21/" target="_blank">Orange Cap</a></strong> with another prolific run-making machine – Virat Kohli.</p>

<p>Virat Kohli and his run-making show continued this week too. The RCB skipper currently holds the Orange Cap after smashing his maiden IPL century against Gujarat Lions on Sunday. He has shown an insatiable appetite for runs. Apart from the century in the last game, Kohli has scores of 33 and 80 batting at the top for RCB. Unfortunately, Kohli could win only one game out of the three RCB played last week. He would be hoping for a turnaround in the team fortunes.</p>

<p>Ajinkya Rahane, with his consistent performance with the bat, has been the silver lining in Rising Pune Supergiant&#8217;s disastrous tournament so far. The team under the helm of MS Dhoni is still searching for the right combination as RPS lost both the games that they played this week. Rahane may be termed slow by the critics, but knocks of 60 against RCB and 67 against KKR were crucial.</p>

<p>Shaun Marsh’s comeback in the team after the a bout of illness has infused a new life in the Kings XI Punjab middle-order which has looked very frail due to under-performing players. KXIP played two games last week and Marsh performed in both. He made 56* against KKR and 40 against Sunrisers Hyderabad. Both his knocks played anchor&#8217;s role for the team, guiding them to a respectable total.</p>

<p>The Gujarat Lions skipper Suresh Raina had a good week in the IPL. The soon be father played a superb knock of 75 off just 55 balls in their first match in the past week. The second match was a silent one for him where he scored just 28 off 24 against RCB. Ironically, his best knock went in vain while GL won the match in which he underperformed.</p>

The all-rounder can tonk the ball long way and chip in crucial wickets for his team. He began the week with a blistering knock of 49* against Sunrisers Hyderabad. <p>Emerging talent Sanju Samson played a wondrous knock of 60 off 48 balls to help Delhi Daredevils register their win of the season. The Kerala lad came in to bat at No.3 after the fall of Quinton de Kock and along with JP Duminy forged a match-defining partnership to propel DD to a respectable total against Mumbai Indians. It was the only match which DD played last week.</p>

<p>Delhi Daredevils played only one game this week in which they beat Mumbai Indians. While Sanju Samson was the batting star that day, leg-spinner Amit Mishra bowled a wonderful spell of 2/24 to emerge as the top performer with the ball. His spell played a big role in curbing the MI unit from chasing the target. So far, it has been a great tournament for him.</p>
