AB de Villiers recently clarified that he will play the cash-rich Indian Premier League (IPL) for the next few years despite retiring from international cricket. This comes as a delighting news for his fans in India as he will continue to mesmerize with his eye-catching shots on the 22 yards. Meanwhile, the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) franchise, in a recent Twitter conversation has hinted to pick the most dynamic batsmen of this generation for the next generation as he has passed their mandatory condition.
De Villiers was exceptional this year in the IPL for the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and won them a few games single-handedly. He scored 480 runs in 11 outings at an unbelievable strike-rate of 174.54 with 6 half-centuries but like every year, his team failed to qualify for the playoffs forget winning the elusive title.
His superhuman catch in the game against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) was one of the best in the history of the tournament and will be etched in the minds of the fans forever.
What is the condition?
CSK were trolled at the start of the tournament for having most of the aged players in their squad. As it turned out, the experience worked wonders for them as they went on to win the tournament for the third time in 9 years of their history.
Interestingly, soon after he declared that he will play the lucrative T20 League for a few more years, one of the Twitter users and a die-hard fan of the franchise, tagged the official Twitter handle of the CSK only to remind them that AB de Villiers is 34-years-old and has passed the mandatory condition of being 30+.
However, in response, CSK’s twitter handle responded positively which has left the fans gushing about the dream prospect of watching De Villiers under MS Dhoni from next year which is very much possible. CSK are always favourites to win the title and the veteran from South Africa can at least lay his hands on the glittering trophy once in his career if he plays in the yellow jersey.
Here’s the thread of the convo:
"I will keep on playing #IPL for a few years, and I would like to play for the Titans, and help some of the youngsters. But there are no set plans. I haven't been able to say that for a long time." – Ab de Villiers #VivoIPL #WhistlePodu pic.twitter.com/uSRklOvNj7
