Irfan Pathan shares an inspirational story with kids suffering from Thalassemia

Life is not always something you expect it to be. It can be quite unpredictable and testing. While this holds true for most of the individuals, some Bravehearts have tougher challenges to deal with. Thalassemia is one of those trials and is a rare disease. It is an inherited blood disorder where an individual has fewer hemoglobin levels and red blood cells than normal. In an amazing gesture, all-rounder Irfan Pathan interacted with the kids suffering from this disease and gave them an inspirational talk.

While speaking to these kids, Irfan shared his insights about the power of self-belief. He said that the power of self-persuasion is so great that it can defeat all the odds. The Baroda cricketer wanted these kids to believe in themselves that they will be able to win over the disease and lead a normal life.

Also, Irfan Pathan shared an interesting anecdote while giving the pep talk to the kids. He said that he himself experienced how the power of self-belief can beat all the odds. While telling about his own story, Irfan informed the kids that there were five fractures in his spine and back in 2010. He added that the doctors asked him to leave cricket because of this injury.

However, the all-rounder believed in himself that he can get back on to the field. He worked extremely hard about his fitness and managed to make a comeback to the Indian team within one and a half years. Similarly, he wanted the kids to believe that they will be fine. Irfan himself shared a short glimpse of this talk in a video that he posted on Instagram. He even termed this to be a humbling experience.

“Humbling experience meeting these kids who are fighting a disease called #thalassemia but happiness on their face is something we can all learn and fight our own small battles #inspiration,” he wrote.
