Australia is currently involved in the second Test of the three-match Test series against New Zealand. It is turning out to be an enthralling encounter with bowlers dominating the match. However, one thing that has hogged the spotlight during the MCG Test is the poor decision being taken on the back of the video review system. Now, Tim Paine, the Aussie skipper has opened up saying that he is quite upset over the same.

The hosts posted a mammoth total of 467 runs on the back of stellar performances by their batsmen. Steve Smith, Marnus Labuschagne, and Tim Paine smashed brilliant fifties whereas Travis Head scored his second Test ton against the Kiwis. However, New Zealand batting unit collapsed in front of Aussie bowlers as they were dismissed at a score of 148 runs. Only Tom Latham managed to score fifty in his side.

Tim Paine is angry with the way video review system has worked in 2nd Test

In the meantime, there were a couple of decisions of the third umpire that were later on criticised by the former cricketing greats. The first instance happened when Tim Paine was given Leg before wicket off Neil Wagner followed by the decision of Mitchell Santner, who was caught at the leg gully but then also he was given not out.

Tim Paine said that he was quite puzzled about the way umpiring has gone so far in the match. Paine described his dismissal saying that it is quite difficult for a left-arm pacer to hit the ball in the line and stumps. However, the third umpire turned down the original decision and gave him out.

The Australian skipper also added that there are few doubts and concern over the way the video review system has worked because it has not gone the same way as it is visible from the ground. The decision that have been taken so far are quite different from what the players expected.

“I thought from the length it pitched and a bloke bowling around the wicket (left-arm Neil Wagner), it’s pretty difficult for it to hit you in line and hit the stumps,” Tim Paine told ABC Radio.

“I’m just seeing time and time again, what I see to the naked eye, or watching it on television in real-time, and then when it comes up it is sometimes a little bit off the mark. And then you get one later which the guy (Taylor) is stuck on the crease, he’s hit really full and it’s going over. So it’s disappointing and makes me angry,” the Aussie skipper added.
