The ongoing Test between Australia and India has been no less than intriguing by any stretch of the imagination. Both teams have fought tooth and nail and have been able to get each other on the mat. Even as the likes of Virat Kohli scored his 25th Test century, Nathan Lyon picked up a five-wicket haul to help the home team garner a crucial lead of 43 runs after the first innings.

The match has also been a witness to a few nasty moments, one of which came in Australia’s second innings. The incident took place in the penultimate delivery of the eighth over. The Perth wicket has aided the fast bowlers to a large extent and Indian speedster Jasprit Bumrah took full advantage of the conditions. He hurled in a bouncer, which got big on opener Marcus Harris.

Bumrah spits venom with the ball

Bumrah bowled from around the wicket and angled the ball into the batsman and it was well directed as well. The left-handed Harris was in no position to play the delivery. He got himself into an awkward position from where he tried to take an evasive action. The batter somehow tried to fend the ball away, but couldn’t save himself from the wrath of the booming ball from Bumrah.

The ball hit Harris flush on his helmet and ricocheted towards the cover region. In the meantime, Harris couldn’t balance himself and fell on the ground. Immediately, he opened the helmet and on-field umpire Chris Gaffaney called someone from the Aussie camp. The likes of KL Rahul, Rishabh Pant and Ajinkya Rahane came up to Harris and enquired about his well-being.

The physiotherapist came to the ground on an immediate basis and treated him while having a chat with the batsman. Nevertheless, Harris showed tremendous guts and got on with his batting. The incident somewhat rolled the memories back to 2014 when left-handed batsman Phillip Hughes passed away after being smacked on the head by a bouncer from Sean Abbott.
