Lasith Malinga can’t stop laughing after seeing his lookalike at Rajkot

Lasith Malinga has been very funky with his hairstyles over the years. The star bowler, who plays for the Mumbai Indians in the IPL, has had injury concerns in the last 2 years but that hasn’t deterred the 33-year old from bowling those deadly yorkers.

The Sri Lankan has played for Mumbai ever since he was picked up by the franchise in 2009. He has been the most successful bowler in the history of the IPL and has taken 149 wickets in 103 games. His form this year has been a big concern as he leaked more than 50 runs in two successive games. He asked for a break for the next few games and returned to action against Gujarat Lions and passed with a decent 2/33 off his fours overs.

During the 15th over of the innings, which was Malinga’s last, the cameras focused on a Malinga doppelganger in the crowd. The man was wearing similar sunglasses as of the T20 legend and was also sporting the same hairstyle. He was on the big screen and Malinga could also see him and immediately started laughing.

After delivering the third ball of the over, the doppelganger was again on the big-screen and Malinga smiled again as he ran to deliver the fourth ball of the over. The fans around the Malinga-lookalike were cheering him as he smiled and raised his hand in acknowledgement. The commentators too got into it, with one of them calling him a ‘twin’ of the Mumbai Indians bowler.

This was a funny moment in a cliff-hanger at Rajkot which ended up going into the Super Over. Malinga was expected to bowl for Mumbai but the job was assigned to  Jasprit Bumrah as the former hasn’t been in great bowling form.

The game was eventually won by Mumbai Indians as Gujarat fell short by 5 runs in the Super Over.
