Pakistan batter Shan Masood has said that he is willing to make changes to his own game and do what the team requires of him. He said that playing for Pakistan is an honour and that he was eagerly waiting for his chance to return to the national team and carry on with his good run of form from county cricket in England.

Masood said that he started his domestic career at No. 4, and has played at No. 3 in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) and the Pakistan Test team. He spoke about how he initially had no intention to play county cricket in England but ended up leading Derbyshire, which he called “a dream come true”.

After IPL, I feel PSL has to be there: Shan Masood

Talking about different T20 leagues around the world, Masood said that the PSL is only behind the Indian Premier League (IPL). He also said that he came to England to improve his overall game and adapt to the conditions.

“After IPL, I feel PSL has to be there. T20 Blast is a good tournament but there are 18 teams and each team only has two international players. As opposed to this PSL has around 8-9 international players in each team which makes a huge different,” Masood told Cricket Pakistan.

“Playing for Pakistan is an honour and performing for the national team is bound to mean so much more. I am eagerly waiting for my chance once again. I started my domestic career on fourth position, although it was back in the day. In PSL, I featured as one-down. Under Mickey Arthur, I also played one-down in Test matches. It is all a matter of what the team requires and I am willing to make the change in my own game,” he added.

The 32-year-old has played 25 Tests and five ODIs for Pakistan since earning the international cap in 2013. He signed for Derbyshire  for the 2022 county season and played both first-class and T20 cricket for them.
