The Kings XI Punjab franchise has given the captaincy to three players in the span of two seasons. The first to get the captaincy was the South African power hitter David Miller in the early stages of last year’s tournament. David Miller’s poor display with the bat ensured that the captaincy did not stay with him for a long period. It next went into the hands of the Indian opener Murali Vijay, who too was not in the best of forms post the responsibility given to him.

The Management decided to go with common ploy in the tournament by giving the captaincy band to the Australian batsman Glenn Maxwell. Sunrisers Hyderabad’s success story with David Warner as the captain might have tempted the owners to go with Maxwell at the helm.

Maxwell and the Kings XI Punjab’s tournament began in the best of fashion, with the side trashing their oppositions by a fair margin in each of its first three encounters. The team has developed drastically since the takeover of the captaincy by the all-rounder. Maxwell recently made it to the headlines with his amazing performance in the Test series in India, post which he was almost certain to perform well in the IPL.

After the amazing start, the Kings XI Punjab team have crashed down to their second defeat in a row after their loss against the determined Delhi Daredevils after losing it out to the Knight Riders. The frustration began to grow inside the captain’s head. Further, the captain was left irate by a Journalist after his bizarre question.

The Journalist appeared to ask the all-rounder about his form against spin bowlers, and the Australian reacted angrily before walking out of place.

“That’s a shocking question,” Maxwell said as he shook his head.”Do you understand in the last three games I’ve hit leg spinners for six repeatedly?”S*** question.”

This issue did come as a shocker from the Journalist as Maxwell had proved that he could dominate the spinners in the first three games with scores of 44*, 43* and 25 under his belt. It would be interesting to see if the all-rounder can answer it on the field in the next game.
