One of the most popular figures in Pakistan cricket, Shahid Afridi recalled his advice to Shaheen Afridi after the latter has been ruled out of the Asia Cup following a knee injury. Shaheen’s injury is a massive blow to Pakistan as the left-armer has been brilliant with the new ball for Pakistan. The board is yet to announce his replacement but Hasan Ali seems favourite to replace the speedster.

Meanwhile, one of the fans on Twitter asked Shahid Afridi to come out of retirement and replace Shaheen. The former captain of the Pakistan side gave a hilarious reply to the fan and recalled the incident when he asked Shaheen not to dive while fielding. He later said that he should have understood Shaheen’s intentions given that they share the same surname.

“Mene us ko pehle b mana Kia tha k dive mat maray, injury hosakti hai, ap fast bowler ho. Lekin bad me mene realise Kia k wo b Afridi hi hai,” said the 42-year-old in a Q&A session with his fans on Twitter.

Depends on the selection committee. No personal favourites: Afridi on Shaheen’s replacement

There has been a lot of debate in Pakistan cricket on who should replace Shaheen in the upcoming Asia Cup and then against England. The majority of the fans want Hasan Ali to replace but a certain section also wants Mohammad Amir to make his return to international cricket. The 30-year-old was trending on Twitter and he highlighted the fact on his social media profile.

He previously announced his retirement from Pakistan following a dispute with the board but it is understandable from the recent tweets that he aims to make a comeback to the squad.

Afridi, who played with him previously, didn’t pick anyone as his favourite to replace Shaheen in the squad. He let the selectors decide on the perfect replacement for Shaheen.

“It depends on the selection committee. No personal favourites,” said the world champion.
