Didn't perform the way we'd have liked, but excited about next year: MI all-rounder Daniel Sams

Mumbai Indians (MI) star all-rounder Daniel Sams has opened up about his experience and the positive things he is taking back after the completion of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022. The Australian all-rounder was purchased by MI for INR 2.6 crore.

The Australian all-rounder played some short but sweet knocks for the five-time champions. However, Sams was not in his best form as most of the time he leaked runs with the ball. He was awarded, Player of the Match, for his excellent bowling performance against arch-rivals Chennai Super Kings (CSK), where he scalped a total of three wickets and gave away just 16 runs.

“There has been some good time around. We haven’t quite performed the way we wanted, but we are excited about what’s to come next year. I think a lot of us in this squad have had to learn and deal with a lot of stuff, because of the way we have performed. So I think it not being the ideal season, I see this as a necessary season, ” said Sams in an interview with MI.

“We talk about skills and execution, but one thing that has developed again for me is the mental skills and I think this tournament has helped to build one more layer on top of that. There have been challenges that I have to overcome in this tournament,” the Australian all-rounder added.

Mumbai Indians endured their worst ever season, as they finished last on the points tally for the first time in their illustrious IPL history. The five-time champions could manage to win just four games and were the first team to be knocked out of the playoff race. It took Rohit Sharma and his men nine games to register their first points of the season.
