The tournament started for the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on a high as they marked their return by beating Mumbai Indians n the tournament opener. South Africa skipper Faf du Plessis did not make it to the playing XI as he has been suffering from a side strain and a fracture in his finger. Mike Hussey, the batting coach of the CSK is hopeful of his return for their encounter against Kings XI Punjab on 15th of April.
Notably, MS Dhoni-led side looked in trouble while chasing the target but West Indian all-rounder Dwyane Bravo’s heroics brought them back in the game and it was Kedar Jadhav who won the match for his side while struggling with a hamstring. However, the middle-order batsman has been ruled out of the tournament because of the injury.
Faf to speed up his training in next seven days: Hussey
Hussey suggested that the right-hander is not in a full training mode as he is still recovering from the strain. But Hussey felt that he will speed up his training in the coming 7 days to get back on the field for their match against Punjab. “I believe Faf is not in full training at the moment. He is recovering from a slight side strain. And he also has a small fracture in his one of his fingers. He is going to be ramping up his training in the next seven days. He is hopeful to be available for selection in the next game against Mohali,” said the former Aussie.
He talked about the loss of Kedar Jadhav as well. According to Hussey, it will be a big hole to fill for his side as Kedar is a class player. Hussey suggested that their top-order will have to play a big role in the upcoming matches and will have to play smartly.
CSK will take on Kolkata Knight Riders in their second encounter at the Chepauk stadium in Chennai later in the evening. It will be interesting to see who replaces Kedar Jadhav in the side.
