The former England opener and captain Michael Vaughan is a force on Twitter especially with his predictions on different things. He is also known for his jinxes which worked extremely well during the ICC World Cup 2019, which was lifted by his home side for the first time ever. Meanwhile, he has set his eyes on the next year’s Men’s T20 World Cup to be hosted by Australia.

Australia will be holding the tournament for the first time ever and this is the only trophy that has been missing from their cabinet. The current defending champions are West Indies who are in their second reign as champions and are the only team to lift the trophy twice, once in 2012 and next in 2016. ICC will be holding two back-to-back T20 World Cups in 2020 and 2021 in India given the popularity of the format and the moolah it draws in.

Michael Vaughan names Australia and England as possible victors of T20 World Cup

Michael Vaughan had put his money on England winning the 2019 World Cup and his bet came off as the three lions lifted the coveted trophy for the first time. Meanwhile, England, who won the World T20 in 2010 in West Indies, are seen as the favorites to win the tournament. Last time it was Paul Collingwood who led the team to the win and if Vaughan is to be believed, Eoin Morgan may repeat the feat.

Apart from England, Vaughan also chose Australia as the potential winners of the T20 World Cup, given that the tournament will be played in their backyard and the last ICC tournament that was played down under was the 2015 World Cup, and it was won by Australia, makes them the favorites. “Early T20 World Cup prediction … England or Australia will be winning it … #JustSaying,” Vaughan tweeted.

Meanwhile, England and Australia have both started their preparations well for the upcoming extravaganza of T20 cricket. England defeated New Zealand in a five-match T20I series in New Zealand with the fifth and deciding match being decided by a Super Over. Australia, on the other hand, defeated Sri Lanka 3-0 and Pakistan 2-0 in six T20I matches recently. They have been ruthless in their approach to the format and it seems Vaughan’s prediction may, in fact, work this time.
