The much-awaited India’s tour of England has commenced and the visitors have already won the T20I series sending shockwaves in the high-flying hosts. When the high-profile contest is in progress, a word or two between the current and former players is expected which is what has been happening in the last few days. While David Willey was not happy with the Indian bowlers pulling out of their run-ups at the last moment, Michael Vaughan slammed Virat Kohli’s men for their slow over rate.

The deciding game of the three-match series was a high-scoring encounter as England went on to post 198 runs after being invited to bat first. The small dimensions of the Stadium worked in favour of the batsmen as Team India also managed to chase down the total with utter ease on the back of a stroke-filled ton from Rohit Sharma. As many as 38 fours and 23 sixes were hit in the game which proves the pitch was a graveyard for the bowlers.

Vaughan’s tweet

England were on course to post a mammoth total in the first innings at the half-way mark but Michael Vaughan was not at all pleased with the slow over-rate of the Men in Blue. He took to Twitter to express his displeasure and wrote, “The Indian T20 over rate this series has been appalling ….. Get on with it …. #ENGvIND.” The fact that the ball was travelling into the crowd so many times was one of the reasons which the on-field umpires consider before charging any team for their slow over-rate.

Vaughan, who loves to trigger the Indian fans on social media, did the same again with his tweet as the Twitterati came out in support of Team India over his allegations. They reminded him that it was a flat pitch and the ball was crossing the boundary most of the times, while some of them also questioned him about the over-rate of his own team in the series.

The stakes are so high for both the teams on this tour and no wonder the mind games will be played by both the teams which will make the tour more interesting. There is so much in store for the fans still with the ODI and Test series yet to begin.
