After missing a chunk of cricket in recent times, Australian pacer Mitchell Starc has said that he is ready and raring to go against the South Africans in the upcoming series. Moreover, Starc has also broken a few records in recent times when he claimed 100 ODI wickets in the Tri-Nation series in the Caribbean. However, speaking about the same, Starc added that he was raring to go in the upcoming series.

The 27-year old left-arm speedster began his interview by stating that the injury in his ankle was healing quite nicely and had stopped bleeding. This was an injury sustained whilst fielding on a rough and unchartered wicket in the third and final Test against Sri Lanka in Colombo.

However, despite this, Starc was able to sling up to 150 kmph, something he was able to achieve on a regular basis prior to his injury that kept him out of the side for the most part. He also stated that he would be trying to bowl as fast as he possibly could.

“It’s not bleeding, it’s healing nicely,” said Starc, whose knee pad will allow him to slide and dive while fielding. We’ll all be trying to crank it up. I’ll be trying to bowl as fast as I can,” Starc said.

Starc also brushed off the threat carried by Dale Steyn on the side. “Just because they’ve got Dale Steyn … and Kagiso Rabada bowling fast doesn’t mean we haven’t got anyone to match that.”

However, Steyn himself relished having a quick bowl on the fastest wicket in the world. He also stated that he was comfortable walking into the vast expanse of the Perth venue. “It’s nice to come here with that feeling that you have done well here before,” Steyn said.

“To walk into a venue where you feel comfortable is always exciting so we are really looking forward to it.”

Steyn also said a word or two on Kagiso Rabada. “Rabada’s really quick and he’s got a great head on his shoulders. He’s always looking to learn and his record (29 wickets at 24.44 from eight Tests) is pretty amazing for such a young guy,” Steyn said.
