23-year-old Mitchell Swepson has been one of the most impressive players when it comes to bowling his brand of leg-spin. Of course, he certainly is no Shane Warne or cannot be compared to the latter, but he certainly is one of the better spinners when it comes to brandishing the whip on the red cherry as he has shown in the Sheffield Shield and the ongoing Big Bash League.

While there is speculation on Swepson at the moment, it seems quite clear that he is keeping his feet well and truly on the ground. “It is pretty tough,’’ Swepson said. “In saying that it is not really an excuse. If you are a spinner you are a good spinner in most conditions.

“Australian conditions are the toughest I have come across. You get hard, true wickets and not a lot of sideways movement.

“I have played at Adelaide Oval and loved bowling there. I have never played at the SCG and I would love to do that. Most of the other grounds are pretty true. If you are not accurate you get found out pretty quick on wickets that don’t turn.’’

Mitchell Swepson has also been a part of the National Performance Squad that played a few matches in Chennai a couple of years ago. “I have been to India the last two years for the national performance squad to a training camp in Chennai and I have learned some good things there.’’

He was also seen chatting with David Warner and also spoke on Samuel Badree who is also a part of the BBL framework from the West Indies. “We are different spinners but watching him (Badree) in games and at training is very helpful. A guy who can go at under six an over in the Twenty20 format has to be respected and if I ask him anything at training he is happy to help.’’
