MS Dhoni biopic one of most talked about topics on Facebook 2016

MS Dhoni has become a household name in India. He has one of the biggest fan bases in the country. With his biopic releasing this year, the number of fans only reached an unprecedented figure. The movie, just like the man himself, was a big blockbuster hit. Now, in the recent Facebook release, the movie has emerged as one of the most trending topics of discussion on Facebook.

Facebook releases its list of most talked about topics and trends at the end of the calendar year. This year the MS Dhoni biopic has garnered a lot of attention. No wonder why it features among the top 10 most trending topics on the social media site Facebook. Facebook has a system that is responsible for tracking the trends. This is usually visible on the right-hand side of your desktop Facebook screen, just adjacent to the chat options. MS Dhoni biopic emerged as the fourth most talked about topic this year.

The Sushant Singh Rajput starrer, which was released on 4500 screens, opened as second highest grossing movie of the year, registering 21.30 crores on day one of its release on September 30. The movie continued attracting the crowd in huge numbers collecting 20.60 crores and 24.10 crores which totalled to 66 cores in the first weekend.

The film takes the spectators through different episodes of MS Dhoni’s life, right from his childhood days to the moment he hit the famous six against Sri Lanka in the World Cup final. The performance of the actor Sushant Singh Rajput, who played Dhoni in the movie, was hugely appreciated. Many rated this as his best performance so far.

Among the other most talked about topics from India on Facebook in 2016 were the surgical strikes, Hardwell tour and Diwali.
