MS Dhoni gives himself a cake facial

So it was MS Dhoni’s birthday yesterday and he celebrated it with the team as well as his family. Since the Men in Blue are in West Indies clashing with the home side Dhoni’s birthday had to be celebrated as per the team traditions. We’ve all seen the players get smacked and plastered with cake. They are so much into it that two cakes are brought one for the cutting and the other one, especially for this tradition.

No MS is among the senior most players in the team along with Yuvraj Singh and all the others youngsters look up to him as an idol and someone they want to learn from. In such a case it would’ve been interesting to see who’d take the initiative to hold him from behind and smack his face in the cake. But Dhoni being Dhoni cut the cake amidst happy birthday song and himself did the needful and put his face into the cake.

Yes that was once again something you would expect MSD to do but the boys weren’t done. In a video that was posted on Instagram by an MS Dhoni fan club, we can see Yuvraj locking Dhoni’s arms from behind and Shikhar Dhawan, Mohammed Shami rubbing the cake on his face, head, shoulders and even the T-shirt.

Young wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant who is seen as someone who can potentially take over the baton from MS once he decides to call it a day from his limited overs career is a part of the team to pick the tricks of the trade from the man who has been the best at it for over a decade. The atmosphere of the team is so healthy that he wasn’t hesitant and rather among the first few who piled on the cake on Dhoni.

The entire Indian team management was present along with the families of the players. One can spot coach Sanjay Bangar in the crowd and also the BCCI CEO Rahul Johri who is in the West Indies to meet Virat Kohli and discuss the appointment of the new coach.
