MS Dhoni opts to travel with his teammates in train, leaving behind his Hummer

Two days after MS Dhoni was sacked as RPS captain for IPL 2017, he made the headlines once again when he was appointed the captain of Jharkhand team for Vijay Hazare Trophy. India’s most successful captain, who has no India assignments until the IPL, seems to be catching up on things he had been missing for a while.

Dhoni, who was once a train ticket collector, posted a picture of him travelling with his Jharkhand teammates in a train the team had caught for Kolkata, where Jharkhand will play its group matches at the Eden Gardens from March 25th.Jharkhand will play its first game against Manish Pandey led Karnataka, followed by Chattisgarh on 26th.

Dhoni posted the picture on his Instagram handle mahi7781 and said “I am travelling in a train after 13 years. It is a long route and I will enjoy it. I’ll talk to my team-mates and enjoy”. He had stepped down from Indian limited overs captains last January and seems to be enjoying his time post-captaincy.

Fondly known as Maahi, the star would have missed out on many little joys like a train ride for years, which he couldn’t risk for years for security reasons. However, captain cool who has grown many grey hairs on his beard decided to leave behind his Hummer and enjoy the train journey from Hatia and Howrah along with his wards. Last year around, Dhoni did participate in the Vijay HazareTrophy but didn’t lead the Jharkhand side.

The Jharkhand team is expected to reap rewards with MS Dhoni’s captaincy in the domestic season, with other talented players like Varun Aaron, Saurabh Tiwary, Ishan Kishan and Ishank Jaggi. Jharkhand is placed in Group D in the Vijay Hazare Trophy along with Chhattisgarh, Hyderabad, Jammu & Kashmir, Karnataka, Saurashtra and Services.
