The United Arab Emirates (UAE) began their tour of the Netherlands on a winning note. They defeated the hosts in the first of the 4-match T20I series which began on Saturday. Ashfaq Ahmed’s 35-ball 54 at the top and Mohammad Usman’s 34-ball 52 helped UAE to post 181/5 after losing the toss. The Netherlands did get off to a good start in the chase but were well behind the required rate.

The inform opener Max O’Dowd scored 51 from only 35 balls while his opening partner at the European Cricket League, scored a 20-ball 34 in this game while batting at No.4. The lack of quick-fire knocks cost the game for the Netherlands. No batsman in their top-order had a strike rate over 170. This was the main reason for the Dutch team’s defeat despite losing only four wickets in the chase.
