South Africa Women clinched the 3-match ODI series against New Zealand with one match still to be played as they sealed an 8-wicket win in the 2nd ODI. Marizanne Kapp’s opening spell and a couple of runouts left the hosts reeling at 39/4. Suzie Bates tried to rescue the innings with a 60-ball 38 but Kapp returned to pick two more wickets as the White Ferns were bowled out for 115 in 36 overs. Three of South Africa’s top four crossed 30 runs and helped the team chase down the target in 23.5 overs.

South Africa’s maiden series win against New Zealand:
1 – This was South Africa Women’s first-ever series win in International cricket against New Zealand Women. The two sides faced off in two ODI series, a Test series and a T20I series before this tour. New Zealand Women were victorious in all those four series.
New Zealand Women’s losing streaks:
5* – New Zealand Women lost all the five ODI matches they played since the start of 2019. The last instance of them losing five consecutive ODIs was during the 2009-2010 period where they lost nine in a row.

New Zealand’s biggest home defeat:
157 – South Africa Women chased down the target of 116 with 157 balls to spare; the biggest defeat for the New Zealand Women in terms of balls to spare in a home ODI. Their previous biggest ODI defeat at home in balls to spare was by 123 balls when Australia chased down the target of 131 in 39.3 overs during a 60-over match.
Kapp striking for the Proteas at the age of 30:
30y 23d – Marizanne Kapp was 30 years and 23 days old on Monday which makes her only the 3rd South African Woman to bag an ODI 4-fer after turning 30. Helen Davies took 4/23 against Australia in 1999 at the age of 32 years and 191 days old. Sunette Loubser recorded figures of 4/11 against West Indies in 2013 at the age of 30 years and 105 days old.
4/29 – Marizanne Kapp became the first South Africa Woman to claim a 4-wicket haul in a limited-overs international against New Zealand. There have been seven 4+ wicket hauls for the New Zealand Women against South Africa but none in the other way around until Kapp’s 4/29.
A low total for New Zealand Women at home:
115 – New Zealand Women’s total of 115 is their 2nd lowest at home since 2005 in ODI cricket. Their lowest total in this period was 104 in the 2015 Mount Maunganui ODI against England Women.
36 – New Zealand Women were bowled out in 36 overs which are the fewest they played in a home ODI while batting first. They never batted less than 44 overs in an ODI while batting first at home.
