Rohit Sharma playing against Sri Lanka for India is a troll’s delight. Whether he scores a zero or a hundred, he has to be trolled. He had a very average tour of South Africa recently where he couldn’t score too many runs, but the Indian fans were sure he would vent out all his frustration on his favourite opposition Sri Lanka. However, surprisingly it didn’t happen and the Hitman was dismissed on a duck in yesterday’s match and it set the Twitter ablaze.

The fans had actually begun trolling Rohit much earlier in the day when the news came through that the Sri Lankan government declared a state of emergency and the match might be called off. It was although a rumour as the emergency was declared in Kandy, while the match was scheduled in Colombo, the Twitterati came out with some hilarious memes and gifs suggesting Rohit might be heart-broken at the news.

And the trolling just went to another level after Rohit’s early dismissal in the match. The memes appeared from left, right and center and people absolutely ripped into India’s stand-in captain. However, he was not the only one to get trolled. The young wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant and the fast bowler Shardul Thakur were also handed the same treatment for their mediocre shows with bat and ball respectively.

Pant, who was playing at the place of MS Dhoni, had a really tough time finding his feet as he struggled all through his innings and ended up with just about a strike rate of 100 which is not good enough in T20 Cricket by any means.

While Shardul who is India’s back up bowler otherwise, but got a game in the absence of the mainstays Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Jasprit Bumrah, was smashed for 27 runs in his first over which pushed India completely onto the back foot and they were never able to recover from that.
