The Pakistan Blind Cricket team has been granted the visa to travel to India in the following week to play the World T20 for Blind in India starting from the 31st of January. While the Blind Cricket Council confirmed that they had received the passports, they now await the arrival of a No Objection Certificate from the Pakistan Cricket Board before they board the flight to the Indian subcontinent in the next few days.

A spokesman representing the Blind Cricket team went on to release a statement regarding the same. He also went ahead and added that the clearance to travel to their southern neighbours would be something that should not have much of an issue given the recent political tensions between the two nations at the moment.

“We plan to travel to India on January 28 as the championship begins from January 31 and we have already applied for clearance from the relevant government ministries to go to India,” he said.

Syed Sultan Shah, who heads the PBCC went on to add the relief that the board had at the moment following the receiving of the visas for the team. However, he also added that this would perhaps be the perfect opportunity for the two boards from both India and Pakistan to sit together at the round table and discuss the possibilities of India and Pakistan playing more cricket in the future, perhaps even a blind touring party from India to Pakistan in the near future as well.

“We are very happy that the visas have been issued as we were a bit anxious because of the refusal of visas to the Pakistan hockey teams and some other federations by the Indian High Commission in recent days,” Shah said.
