It has been a well-known fact that India and Pakistan have not engaged in any bilateral series post horrific Mumbai terror attacks. India has not stepped on the soil of Pakistan and vice versa after the year 2008.
The officials have made it clear time and again that the neighbouring countries won’t indulge in engagements until political tensions are not sorted out. In the same light, PCB CEO, Wasim Khan, has come up with a big statement.
Khan stated that Pakistan cricket is trying hard to be on its own and become self-sustainable. He made it clear that Pakistan is trying to look forward to its journey of cricket without worrying to play with India. He addressed fans and said that country’s cricket has achieved a lot and is looking forward to achieving more, and they need to stop thinking about playing in India.
“My message to fans and followers of Pakistan cricket is that we have achieved a lot so far and there is still a lot of hard work ahead, but Pakistan cricket has a lot to look forward to without worrying about playing India [in bilateral series],” Khan told PakPassion.net in an interview.
Khan made it clear further that BCCI has to fetch in the permission of the Government of India for playing in Pakistan and seeing the current scenario between the two countries, it is highly unlikely. They have a lot of difference over many issues, and border tensions are prevailing too. Therefore, India playing in Pakistan is just not possible.
BCCI have to get the government of India’s permission: Wasim Khan
“The BCCI have to get the government of India’s permission before they play Pakistan, and that’s a fact. So, based on that and the current regime in power, their outlook on life and their opinions on certain matters, including their views on Pakistan, it is highly unlikely that in the near future Pakistan will play India,” Khan added.
Khan made a point that they have signed a deal with PTV and cable operator, which is their next step in becoming self-sustainable. However, India and Pakistan will continue playing in all the ICC events, Khan said while concluding.
