'Play nice gentlemen' - David Warner responds hilariously as Barmy Army pull his leg

David Warner is one of the most active cricketers socially. Quite a fun-loving, happy-go-lucky character, he is often at the centre of attraction owing to his antics both on and off the field. He is often seen mimicking, performing or shaking a leg on popular Indian songs, while the Aussie also has a great inclination of deep-faking renowned segments of movies or songs.

His active Instagram account aside, Warner is an avid Twitter user and for the umpteenth time, he was involved in a bit of Twitter tattle as he funnily gave it back to England’s renowned group of cricket supporters “Barmy Army”, who kicked off a harmless banter.

Pulling Warner’s leg cheekily, Barmy Army posted a screenshot of Instagram’s ‘you may know’ suggestion that suggested to them Warner’s name as Barmy Army follows England batter and his Sunrisers Hyderabad teammate Jonny Bairstow. “Lol no thanks @davidwarner31”, Barmy Army wrote, reckoning they do not like Warner, to which the 34-year-old replied, “Play nice gentlemen”.

David Warner’s horrid IPL 2021

Warner was last seen in the currently-suspended 14th edition of the Indian Premier League. Much to his disliking, the 2021 IPL turned out to be a rather unusual affair for the former SRH skipper as he struggled both as a captain and batter, while he was sacked as the captain midway. Warner’s tally in the season read: 193 runs at 32.16 at an uncharacteristically low strike rate of 110.28.

His dwindling returns meant that the SRH management gave the mantle of captaincy to New Zealand’s Kane Williamson, while Warner was dropped from the playing XI against the Rajasthan Royals in what eventually turned out to be the penultimate clash before the season suspension.

The edition was suspended due to a spate of Covid-19 cases emerging inside the bio-secure environment created for the league, which forced the BCCI and the IPL Governing Council to abruptly postpone the tournament. The 31 unfinished games will now be played across three venues in the United Arab Emirates from September 19. SRH was languishing at the bottom of the table close to the halfway mark and find their Playoff qualification streak running since 2016 in danger.
