The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is all set to kickstart the 14th edition of the Indian Premier League in India from April 9. The T20 Extravaganza will run across six venues including the likes of Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi, Mumbai, and Kolkata with the final of the league scheduled on May 30 at the Narendra Modi Cricket Stadium in Ahmedabad.

Ahead of the elite T20 tournament, the Punjab franchise had changed their name from Kings XI Punjab to Punjab Kings. Also, there is a change in the logo of the team as the new logo depicts a shield inside which the team name has been written with the lion roaring.

With the change in the logo and name, the franchise wishes to change its fortunes too as they will be hoping to win its maiden title in IPL 2021. Apart from Punjab Kings, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Delhi Capitals (DC) are the other two teams who are yet to get hold of their maiden T20 trophy.

Meanwhile, with the IPL just a couple of days away, Punjab Kings unveiled their new jersey which sports the logo of the team towards the top left side while there is a print of a roaring lion at the front. There is a significant change in the color of the jersey too.

The new kersey of PBKS has already hogged all the limelight within a few minutes of its release but for all the wrong reasons. Many fans aren’t happy with the outfit as they compared it with the old jersey of Royal Challengers Bangalore and trolled the management for copying RCB.

Punjab Kings run in IPL 2020

The Punjab-based franchise had experienced a roller coaster ride in the 2020 edition of IPL hosted in the United Arab Emirates. They had started their campaign on a bad note as they lost the first game to DC but made a comeback by winning against RCB.

This was followed by the team losing five games on a trot and scripting a memorable comeback by winning the next five games. However, they lost their last two games of the league stage to finish at the sixth position in the points table with 12 points.
