A school in the state of Rajasthan has decided to terminate a school teacher after she celebrated Pakistan’s victory over the Indian side in the 2021 T20 World Cup. Nafisa Atari is a teacher at the Neeraj Modi School.

After Pakistan’s resounding 10-wicket triumph over Virat Kohli and his men, Atari had posted a WhatsApp status that read, ‘Jeet gaye, we won’. After this, one of the parents asked Atari whether she is a supporter of the Pakistan side.

And to that, Atari had replied ‘Yes’. Screenshots of the teacher’s Whatsapp status soon started spreading, and the school management decided to terminate her services.

School teacher thought the message from the parent was a joke

The expelled teacher, Nafisa Atari has now opened up on the matter. Atari stated that she had received a message from one of the parents asking her whether she supported the Pakistan side. Atari stated that she thought it was a joke, as there was an emoji that accompanied the message.

“One of the parents who were on my contact list asked if I support Pakistan. I said yes. I thought it was a joke as there was an emoji at the end of the message,” said the teacher.

Also, the workers of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) have strongly stated that even though the teacher has apologised, the school must take strict action. The workers also added that they came to the school to hoist the Indian flag in the campus.

“Though the teacher has apologised we want the school to take strict action against the teacher. What she might be teaching in her class if she was openly supporting Pakistan. Our country is insulted. We came here and hoisted the national flag at the campus. We urge the school authority to take legal action against the teacher,” said the ABVP workers.

Virat Kohli’s Indian cricket team will next be seen in action on 31st October 2021 when they lock horns with the New Zealand side.
