After Twitter roasted Ramiz Raja for him questioning MS Dhoni’s Grade ‘A’ comment, the renowned cricket commentators lashed out at his trollers for misinterpreting the logic and intent behind his statement. Raja justified his statement by claiming that his agenda focussed on the future of Test Cricket.
Much has been talked about the Raja’s comment on MS Dhoni’s Grade ‘A’ contract despite retiring from Test Cricket for a long time now. He also questioned the Superstar Culture prevalent within the Boards of the Indian sub-continent. He cited out the case of Shahid Afridi from Pakistan who had a ‘Grade A’ contract despite retiring from Test Cricket for a long time.
Raja’s advice to the boards was to prioritise Test cricket and not the icons in the teams. According to Raja, Boards should not follow the Superstar Syndrome but give importance to the greatest format of the game. This was the very reason why the Ramachandra Guha, the former member of the Supreme Court-appointed CoA (Committee of Administrators), resigned from his position citing the Superstar Culture prevalent in Indian Cricket and various other loopholes and irregularity regarding contracts of the stalwarts of the game pertaining to conflict of interest.

After receiving severe backlash on Twitter, Raja tweeted by saying,”Art of distortion:’ how to save Test Ckt’ at MCC was all abt the game, never an individual. Mis-hyped & wrongly focused on by some media.” Raja, therefore, slammed the media for falsely sensationalising an issue which was never directed at any individual.

“Unfortunately, the superstar syndrome has distorted the system of Indian team contracts. As you will recall, I had pointed out that awarding MSD an ‘A’ contract when he had explicitly ruled himself out from all Test matches was indefensible on cricketing grounds, and sends absolutely the wrong message,” said Ramiz Raja earlier according to Zee News.
