The twitter account of Mr. Ravi Ashwin came to life for 30 minutes on a quiet Thursday evening as the 30-year old Indian bowling sensation took questions from a few eager fans in what was an ‘Ask me anything’ session. While this was certainly one of the few occasions when a player came on twitter for such a thing, it was also clear that Ashwin was certainly not going to hold anything back and be as transparent as possible.
One of the first few questions asked by the fans was which was the most favorite and prized wicket the 30-year old held close to his heart. Mind you, Ashwin has some prized scalps in his inventory of wickets in the past including a few legends of the game in both the IPL as well as international cricket.
However, pat came the answer that it was certainly the wicket of AB de Villiers was certainly the one that he will hold close to his heart. Ashwin picked the wicket of de Villiers, the skipper of South Africa in Nagpur in the fall of 2015 when the Indians played host to the South Africans in the subcontinent slightly over a year ago. At the time, de Villiers had been removed as the Test captain and the role had been thrust upon Hashim Amla who led the Proteas to their first ever whitewash loss at the hands of the Indians.
Also, the 30-year old opened up on the disastrous 2014-15 tour of Australia that saw him not perform as well as he would have liked stating that it was something that not only changed his career but also his life as an international cricketer for India. He also added that Cheteshwar Pujara and KL Rahul were his buddies in the dressing room.
Alright no better day than this to have a chat with all you wonderful well wishers. Please type away #askash for the next 30 minutes.
