Sanju Samson, the young Indian wicketkeeper was recently excluded from Team India‘s T20I squad that will play three-match series against West Indies. However, the decision didn’t go down well with the fans and many Indian cricketers, who started criticising Indian selectors. But the young player is expected to get drafted back into the team.

He hogged the spotlight after smashing a double century against Goa in the Vijay Hazare Trophy this season. Afterwards, he was directly picked by the selectors for three-match T20I series against Bangladesh. But, he didn’t get a single match to play as the preference was given to Rishabh Pant over him.

Good News for Sanju Samson fans

It was expected that he will be picked for the T20I series against West Indies. However, against all odds, selectors dropped him from the team without giving him a proper match time. Harbhajan Singh and Shashi Tharoor had also criticised the selection committee over Samson’s exclusion. Now as per the reports of Bangalore Mirror, Samson will be drafted back into the national squad for the T20I series against West Indies. But it is still not confirmed if he will be a replacement of any injured player or will be added as an extra player.

Samson has fared decently in the ongoing Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, the T20 tournament. Though he hasn’t set the stage on fire, 112 runs in four outings at a strike-rate of 130.23 is not a bad effort. Having said that, even if he is picked in the Indian team it remains to be seen if he will get an opportunity.

The T20I series between India and West Indies is scheduled to get underway on December 6 with the three matches to be played in Hyderabad, Thiruvananthapuram and Mumbai respectively. The ODI series will commence on December 15. Currently, the Caribbean side is in India itself playing against Afghanistan while Virat Kohli’s men thrashed Bangladesh in the two-match Test series.
