Pakistan cricket has gone through some turbulent phases over the past few years. However, the Pakistan Super League (PSL) came in as a breath of fresh air for the terror-stricken nation. The third season of the tournament will commence in the last week of February and the hype has already been generated surrounding the T20 extravaganza.

However, terrorist attacks and political turmoil have ensured that the security interests of the nation have been severely compromised. Subsequently, teams have been reluctant to visit Pakistan. Karachi is slated to host the final of the upcoming edition and the Sindh Government have conducted security drills with the help of Pakistan Rangers, Pakistan Army and other security officials.

Last year, a suicide-bomb attack in Lahore killed 15 people. Subsequently, the terror attack marred the final of the tournament because of which several top cricketers backed out. Nevertheless, as per reports in tribune.com.pk, Reg Dickinson, the security consultant for Global Sports seemed satisfied with the arrangements at the Karachi National Stadium.

Praises for the Pakistan Board

“We were provided with a comprehensive drill and a professional presentation with the help of all security agencies, combined with the efforts of PCB chairman Najam Sethi, which is encouraging and it will be reflecting in the report that I’ll be submitting to the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and the International Cricket Council (ICC),” Dickinson said. He also hailed the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for their immaculate arrangements at the venue.

“From what we have seen today that has been demonstrated, the documentation, the level of commitment shown by all the stakeholders involved, is very satisfying. PCB has delivered what they promised and committed on papers,” the security consultant added.

The final of the tournament will take place in the last week of March and the entire nation will hope that the game goes on without any unwanted hiccups.
