The Pakistan Super League (PSL) has done Pakistan cricket a world of good. The domestic T20 tournament like every other version that is played around the globe now serves as a talent feeder for the national side. One prominent name that emerged from the PSL and is now a certain name in the Pakistan team sheet is Fakhar Zaman. He will forever be remembered for his knock in the Champions Trophy 2018 final against India. However, the left-hander has done a lot more in his career thus far.

Zaman has played 13 ODIs and 22 T20Is for Pakistan, where his contribution has been 550 and 646 runs respectively. Pakistan won the T20I tri-series in Zimbabwe where they beat Australia in the final and it was once again on the back of a crispy inning worth 91 from the opener. After the conclusion of the series, he expressed that PSL is a great platform for the youngsters and has helped them hone their skills.

“Before playing for Pakistan, PSL is a great platform for youngsters to come and enhance their skills. They share the dressing room with top players and play against them as well,” the batsman said. The coaching and competition standard in PSL is very high and it changes your game rapidly,” he was quoted as saying by Geo.tv.

Malik has helped at every juncture

Fakhar also mentioned that he has received valuable guidance from senior players in the team like Shoaib Malik and thinks it is his ability to learn from failures has brought him where he is.

“Learning from failure and working hard are important factors for me. Every time I made a mistake, Shoaib bhai and other senior players helped me to improve and overcome it,” the batsman said.

He isn’t deterred by the big match situations in the tournament finals. The pressure of the occasion doesn’t work against him and hence Zaman has earned the tag of being a ‘big match player’.

“I usually play aggressively from the beginning in regular matches, but in games like tournament final, I try to spend time on the wicket and get settled down before showing my natural game,” he said.
