Ever since Mickey Arthur’s statement, there was a lot of buzz surrounding another comeback from Shahid Afridi. The 38-year-old has been in stupendous form in the Pakistan Super League. Alongside picking seven wickets, Afridi is also inspiring with his fielding, a department Pakistan has often struggled in over the recent years.

The former Pakistani all-rounder has cleared the air on the same that he won’t be featuring in international cricket anymore. However, he would continue to play different leagues across the cricketing universe. He further spoke about Imad Wasim’s captaincy,  low crowd turnout, and young talent.

Imad Wasim consults the team before making any decision

Imad Wasim has been enjoying a successful stint captaining Karachi Kings. So far they have won all the three games and are placed at the top of the points table. Afridi was all praise for Imad as he remarked, “He doesn’t take all decisions by himself, he listens, he is taking everyone along, there were two-three times when the pressure was on him but he remained relaxed,”

I request fans to come to the stadium and enjoy cricket

The ongoing season of the Pakistan Super League has been hit with the low turnout from spectators. Afridi feels that there should’ve been better marketing in order to promote the PSL. He further appealed the fans in UAE to come to the stadiums and watch the cricketing action.

“I believe the first two seasons were very good, in this season so far fan turn out is a bit low. There should have been more marketing for PSL to get more crowd on the ground. I request fans to come to the stadium and enjoy cricket.” He was quoted as saying by GEO TV.

Contrary to the other leagues played around the world, PSL hasn’t witnessed much young talent creating any sort of an enigma. Afridi voiced his concern over the same and expected the youngsters to display their talent on a big platform.

“One of the main reason behind PSL is to bring out new talent. Boys who don’t get the opportunity to showcase their potential in the domestic setup join franchises to show their talent, but I have not seen any special talent up till now.”
