Shakib Al Hasan hopes to achieve much more in his career

The Bangladesh team is blessed to have an all-rounder of Shakib Al Hasan’s calibre. The 30-year old is currently the number one ranked all-rounder in the ICC rankings across the three formats of the game. He is without a doubt the biggest name to have emerged from Bangladesh cricket circles. The left arm-spinner already has a number of records and achievements to his name.

However, he wants to achieve a lot more in his career in the coming year. Shakib feels that it would have been great if his record was better than the present and wishes to accomplish many more records in his career. In his view, if the team has more encounters lined up against tougher opponents that will see their graph make a northward move.

“Obviously it would have been good if they were better than now. Maybe if we started facing the kind of competition we face now a bit earlier the performance graph would have been better,” Shakib said while talking to Dailystar.

Happy with my achievements

The Bangladeshi T20I captain was pretty confident and proud of the achievements in his career since making his debut in 2006. “But I am happy with whatever I have achieved so far in my career and my aim is to achieve more than what I have achieved till now,” added Shakib.

“Actually, I never set such targets. Nobody knows what will happen tomorrow but as long I am playing my aim is to improve each day and perform better,” he concluded.

Shakib’s International career so far

The left-hander has already established himself as a consistent performer for his country in the international circuit. He has played 49 Tests and 177 ODIs in which he has scored 3479 and 4983 runs respectively and has also picked up 176 and 224 wickets. Shakib has also represented his team in 59 T20Is in which he has scored 1208 runs and also claimed 70 wickets in the shorter format of the game.
