Previously it was claimed that former Australian leg-spinner Shane Warne had said that he was open to coaching India or he wanted to coach India if there was an offer coming from BCCI for coaching India.

But Shane Warne has seemingly clarified that he never said that he wanted to coach India. In a Facebook post on his official page, Warne wrote that he was grateful for his life and he was currently busy attending sponsored events, commentating for various cricket media channels. He also said that he loved playing poker all over the world and promoting the Cricket All Stars in new audiences with Sachin Tendulkar.

He further continued that he is busy mentoring young sportspersons and kids and raising three teenaged kids single-handedly. He said that he would think and consider if any opportunity came up of coaching any team. Shane Warne said that this was his response to the question asked to him that if he would be open to coaching India in future.

He said that he was surprised at the reporting done by the press and how his words were published in leading sports websites and newspapers. Shane Warne was reported to say that he was open to coaching Indian team in future. The BCCI will be looking for a new fulltime coach since current team director Ravi Shastri’s tenure was upto the World T20 2016 and with India being eliminated in the semi-finals by the West Indies, his tenure will not likely be extended.

Ravi Shastri was serving as the team director of Indian team after India’s previous full-time coach, Duncan Fletcher’s contract was not renewed. India has won many trophies under the tutelage of Ravi Shastri and are currently no.1 in T20Is, no.2 in Tests and no.3 in ODI rankings.
